Re: Week 2: WSU @ USC
Now hopefully SC can pull off two home wins vs. OOC opponents and then . . . they can completely go into the tank for the rest of their conference season for all I care.
I have to say it felt weird but I actually felt a little sorry for Kiffen looking at him on the sideline. (Emphasis on "little.")

If USC continues to look this bad it could help push a lot of big name guys our way.

Orrrr USC is just that bad this year. I think it's more than likely that lmaoGreenblood wrote:It's the outcome I wanted for sure. And let's give some credit to WSU. Who could have ever fathomed the Cougars could go into LA, hold USC to less than 200 yards total offense, and win the game with only 10 points. Yes, USC's offense looks pathetic, but this is a different WSU team.

Kiffen better get going to keep his job all year, amazing for cougs to get under 200 total yards and still win though. 2 td's combined and both were cause of the defense's.

I don't see them beating BC next week, unless they improve drastically.Greenblood wrote:Now hopefully SC can pull off two home wins vs. OOC opponents and then . . . they can completely go into the tank for the rest of their conference season for all I care.

I did too and I'm sure there were others, but they just won't admit it. Kiffin's mouth made him easy to dislike for many years. He was arrogant and boastful. Many of his peers didn't like him either. Since USC AD, Pat Haden, gave him a "talking too" and after suffering through a 7-6 record last year, after being the preseason #1 ranked team, I think he's finally learned humility.Greenblood wrote: I have to say it felt weird but I actually felt a little sorry for Kiffen looking at him on the sideline. The guy really is a good coach, but he wasn't mature enough for the opportunities that have been given to him. The Raiders job, and the scandal that followed it, going to Tennessee, making a prediction at the podium of how they were gonna beat Florida and then later accusing Urban Meyer of cheating (when he wasn't).
Finally, after one year of that debacle, he gets the opportunity to return to USC, but he inherits a program on the brink of major NCAA sanctions. USC gets hammered by the NCAA, he has little depth on the roster and had no choice but to part ways with his Dad because the defense was horrible. Still, the guy hasn't had a losing season through it all (yet).
I don't think they'll beat BC either. They have a big problem at QB. I think Kiffin needs to pick one and stick with him through the season so he can grow. The only problem is that after last season's expectations, and the improvement of UCLA, the fans are growing restless.
This may be his last year at USC. The sanctions, inconsistency at QB and on defense (and spread offenses) may have finally caught up with him.
If any good has come from this it's that maybe Lane Kiffin has finally grown up and become more humble. If he does get fired this year, there's no doubt in my mind that he'll get hired somewhere else and probably have some success. If so, he'll have learned a lot of hard, but valuable lessons by then. I might even wish him a "little" luck.

His days are numbered at USC, but the guy is only 38 and will get picked up by some lower tier school. This won't be the last we hear of Lane Kiffen in big time college football, I'm sure of that.
