Owa trims list to 5; Ducks not included
Per rivals, Owa has trimmed his list down to Florida, USC, UCLA, Cal, and Oregon St.
Really bums me out to not be landing such great in state talent. Really, REALLY bums me out that the Beavs make the final five and we do not. If he ends up at one of those schools I suppose I hope he leaves the Pac 10 for Florida.
Suppose it is a good timing for Dakota Royer to put us in his final five. We really heed some studs in this class all the way across the line. I was really hoping to add a bookend combo of Gabe King and Owa but I guess that is not going to happen.
Bummer

Most likely he picks USC or Florida, I don't think he would choose the Beavers.

It will be interesting to see if he keeps that major throughout college.

Jonathon Smith... the one-time QB at "lil' Bro" Buster Douglas Community College of Corvallis, was an engineering major there, and did quite well.
It all depends on the individual.

One of the main reasons I'm attending PSU instead of UO is because Oregon didn't have my major (CS). Although they have CIS, and some other similar programs, the lack of engineering at Oregon could cost them once in a while.
I remember Matthew Masifilo was really high on Oregon, but we didn't make his final 3 because we didn't have engineering? (Correct me if I'm wrong)

I guess it is time to start an engineering program at Oregon and build the Knight Engineering Building for the dept!

From what I've heard we are developing an engineering and a medical program.

That's good, however, a medical program would be hard to compete with against OHSU since they are one of the top programs in the country. Interesting though that considering OHSU used to be the University of Oregon Medical School Oregon would want to get back into it.OregonMAX wrote:From what I've heard we are developing an engineering and a medical program.

Sorry to get off topic but do you have any more info on this. I'm not so confident in getting accepted to OHSU when the time comes...From what I've heard we are developing an engineering and a medical program.

Not really, I just heard taht they're going to be working with the new Sacred Heart Hospital. I'm not sure or anything, so I may just be completely wrong. I'm hoping they do though.
All I know is that my friend (who is usually pretty good at finding this kind of information out) said that they're developing an engineering and medical program.

Well one of the things about OHSU, even though it is one of the top programs in the country, it doesn't give preference to instate kids.. Where every major program in the nation does give preference to instate kids, OHSU not giving it to oregon students applying to med school puts them at a huge disadvantage. So if Oregon did open up a medical school department it would compete pretty well with OHSU just on the fact that hopefully it would give instate kids preference and even the already hard field of getting into medical school.
