Wounded do you have a link for that conversation? I had not heard that. I'm flabergasted, after the way he stole him away.woundedknees wrote:IIRC, Kiffin actually told Boyd he had no future as a Tennessee QB... Does this mean that "If Oregon offers them , they must be good", in Kiffin's recruiting assessments?

RanDux, you may be confusing QB Tajh Boyd with RBBryce Brown, who was 'stolen away by Kiffin...
Tajh Boyd originally committed to Tennessee before Kiffin took over as coach, after decommitting from WVU.
Right after Kiffin took over as coach, Boyd decommitted, saying Kiffin told him he didn't fit their profile for a QB... This was before Oregon became a high profile player for Boyd's services.

And it's not like the guys Kiffin told to look elsewhere are chopped liver. The higher rated one, Tajh Boyd, just got done winning MVP at the Army Bowl on a torn ACL. Rated in the top 100 by all three major scouting services, he's choosing between Oregon and Ohio State -- not exactly lightweights. Though Bryce Petty isn't rated that well he did have a Nebraska offer.

Tajh Boyd has de-committed from Tennessee following a conversation about his future with newly hired football coach Lane Kiffin.
A source close to Boyd’s recruitment told the News Sentinel on Wednesday that Boyd pulled back his commitment when Kiffin warned him that he might not be happy with UT’s pro-style offensive system.

BJ Coleman would be a great fit for Kiffin. If he improves his footwork, i could see him being a lot like Palmer and Leinart. And the possibility of him throwing to Gerald Jones (a lot like Steve Smith of the NYG) and and Marlon Brown (maybe, but a lot like Dwayne Jarrett of CP), with our running backs, i think we have a bright future. It probably wont happen the first year but if were patient enough, we should eventually be an elite team.

“I mean he honored his scholarship,” Mr. Boyd explained. “Some media on the Internet are saying they pulled his scholarship. He didn’t pull it. He felt like why would Tajh want to go there if he doesn’t fit their system? So Tahj decided not to go there because basically he wants to go someplace where he’s wanted.”

Sorry I should have proof read my post as I meant to say Kiffin told Boyd he was NOT a fit for their offense, thank you for the correction, that's why I can't believe all these dual threat Qbs are getting attention from Tenn and also returning the favour.woundedknees wrote:IIRC, Kiffin actually told Boyd he had no future as a Tennessee QB... No disrespect intended, except to anyone naive enough to believe everything Kiffin says...

I think he's getting desperate for any QB at this point. If they don't get a solid prospect this year, they're in really bad shape due to Coleman jumping ship.woundedknees wrote:IIRC, Kiffin actually told Boyd he had no future as a Tennessee QB... Perhaps Kiffin cleaned house a little too well... ?
Hopefully Lane's team performs more like Monty Python was running the show, rather than Lane and Monte Kiffin!

Ah, thanks for the correction. I was confusing Tennessee with Clemson. Too many recruits stolen away.woundedknees wrote:RanDux, you may be confusing QB Tajh Boyd with RBBryce Brown, who was 'stolen away by Kiffin...
