Bryce Brown
Funny thing, I was reading ESPN the magazine yesterday and I saw a little blurb on Bryce Brown, the long and short of it was they made fun of him not choosing to go to Oregon because we would not prepare him for the NFL. Just a funny little thing that shows how his intelligence. Now honestly I would have taken him. But a player that makes such ridiculous comments about how we wont prepaire him for the NFL...you gotta wonder about his football I.Q.

Re: Bryce Brown
Tennessee has put so many RB's into the NFL recently and Oregon has not.
Currently the Ducks have Stewart, Morris, Johnson, Droughns and Chris Vincent on NFL rosters whereas Tennessee has Lewis and Foster, then you add in Terrence Whitehead and Onterrio Smith who recently played in the NFL. Of course Onterrio played on both the Tennessee and Oregon teams. Blount will be the next Duck to go to the NFL and will most likely be a high first round pick.

Re: Bryce Brown
By the way the Ducks have 35 total players currently on NFL rosters and Tennessee has 43 so to say Tennessee prepares players better for the NFL is a joke. Consider all of the 4-5* guys that have played at Tennessee compared to the number that have played at Oregon and I would say Oregon has developed players better and prepared them to succeed in the NFL.

I hear what you're saying, however, Stewart and Johnson are the only backs on that list that played in the current version of this offense. Terrence Whitehead played one year in the version that Gary Crowton ran, but he's not in the NFL.
I can't stand Lane Kiffen and I'm stumped as to why anyone would want to go there and play for an unproven coach, but I can understand the logic - to a point.
Other big name schools, USC for one, are also using that against us. That's one of the reasons why Chip has been looking at tweaking the offense to where it's more like the version of the spread that Texas runs. It will also greatly reduce the risks of getting the QB injured.

I don't put to much stock into BB words, he was feed so much BS that I'm sure he was just confused when he made his final choice...I feel bad for athletes in his position that just make poor decisions. Just remember he is just 18 years old and was swayed by lies and it happens all the time just ask PC!
Now lets move on and let this go...my God there are tons of recruits out there that love us and want to be Ducks, lets talk about them!
GO DUCKS!!

Re: Bryce Brown
Bryce Brown can make it to the NFL even if he went to Portland State. Not only is he misguided that Oregon is not a good RB school, but if that's one of the main reasons he didn't come to Oregon, you have to wonder about his judgment.
Gimmie an athlete like Dior Mathis who actually does his homeworks and gets his facts.

Guys, the truth is likely that Bryce missled everyone on his true reasons for choosing Tenn. over Oregon. He was asked by a reporter why he didn't choose Oregon and he didn't have one big reason or one thing he could hang his hat on, so he had to play the NFL prep card. He even used the "God told me to" card, which I just roll my eyes at. He couldn't really think of a great or brilliant excuse why he didn't choose Oregon so he just gave the answer to the question that was probably what was fed to him by Kiffin. It is going to be the main thing that kids hear from traditional powers when they negative recruit against Oregon. You can almost tell kids in advance that this is what other programs are going to tell you about why you shouldn't come to Oregon so that they can be prepared.
All in all, it doesn't matter anyway. Bryce will be a good RB but he had a chance to do something special at Oregon and for one reason or another he chose to play for a quesitonable character in Kiffin.

When traditiona powers are playing the won't get you in the NFL card that means Oregon is a big factor and they are having to sell hard on that point. It means Oregon is making waves with the Big Time programs

However in light of th UO's success in getting players into the NFL, the fact that recuits buy into this indicates that the recruiting staff is not yet doing a good job of selling the program.
Is there too much focus on the glitz?
Hardly, I sense some frustration from others on lack of early commits, and true we probably will miss out on a number due to distance and lack of national tv exposure to many big named recruits. It is very important that the ducks win especially the national broadcasted games this year to turn that corner. Do that and next summer the threads will be filled with people licking their chops about the players lining themselves up to join the program.
As for Brown, he sold out to the self conceived aura of the SEC and the Vols. There was no established foundation for him to make any judgment on the untested and unproven abilities of the staff at Tenn other than reputation they now bring to the program.

Really this guy again. Would loved to have had him, but we just don't "play" like some of the other big schools when it comes to recruiting.

This is my impression as well. It's a fall-back explanation to cover up that the deciding factor was some chick named Lacey.Destroyer77 wrote:Guys, the truth is likely that Bryce missled everyone on his true reasons for choosing Tenn. over Oregon.
