Tennessee recruiting practices...
http://blogs.ajc.com/georgia-football-r ... ecruiting/
... "the second they split us up from the parents, it got so much more intense.”
The prospects were led to the film room, where Kiffin thanked the recruits for making the trip and considering the Volunteers. “Then this other coach [assistant] got up there and said that Tennessee takes special teams very seriously, that it’s a big key to winning,” recalled Northview defensive lineman Denzel McCoy, who has 31 early scholarship offers.
“That coach said they get real fired up on special teams and yelled for everybody to ‘Get up, get on your feet, and get fired up about special teams.’ Then this other coach ripped off his shirt Superman style. It was crazy.”
Douglass defensive lineman Garrison Smith said the lights in the room dimmed. “This one coach stayed behind and walked to the side of the room. Then he kept slamming the [side] doors, as if the other assistant coaches were trying to break it down. It was like an angry dog or some wild animals were on the other side.”
After a few moments, Smith said the doors swung open and the Tennessee assistants ran into the room. “By now, three or four coaches had their shirts ripped off.” Smith said around 10 Tennessee players, including All-America defensive back Eric Berry of Atlanta and quarterback Jonathan Crompton, ran down from behind the recruits to meet the coaches on the floor. “Eric and the rest of the players were chanting ‘U-T, wild boys … U-T, wild boys … U-T wild boys.’” This time, prospects left their seats and joined the celebration. “We were all jumping up and down together, it was cool,” McCoy said.
McCoy: “Personally, I liked it … It was kind of crazy, but it was cool. Coach Kiffin is trying to get everyone fired up about Tennessee football, and it worked. He had everyone in that room fired up.”
Smith: “I loved it, especially when that coach ripped off his shirt like The Incredible Hulk. It was high intensity. I enjoyed the whole day. They [Tennessee] definitely moved up on my list.”
Vogler: “It was awesome. I didn’t know how to react at first. I said to myself, ‘Oh my God, these people are crazy.’ Then after talking to them later in the day, I realized that’s just their style. That’s how they go.”
Is this what it takes to get a commit?

Ha-ha after the Ducks beat Tennessee in a couple of years or whenever it is they play them they should all run to the center of the field yelling " U-O Wild Boys!" with their shirts off, including the coaches....... could you imagine seeing Chip do that!!!!

The more that comes out about how Kiffin & Tennessee recruit, the faster they are becoming one of my least favorite college teams. They are almost now in the top-5 of my most hated teams (1. Oregon State, 2. USC, 3. Ohio State, 4. Florida, 5. Washington)

I can't wait to see some of SEC teams roll Tennessee, Kiffin is at the top of my list of dislike coaches.freedjr wrote:I wonder if the coaches rip off their shirt when they get rolled by UCLA...and Florida...and Georgia...and...
I can imagine what he told the players that had an interest for Oregon, like BB who you know told that he couldn't make it to the NFL in that spread offense. Too bad BB was gullible enough to believe him.
He's a slimy recruiter from what I've already seen, and you know there's a lot of coaches that want to put it to him, Saban and Meyer to name a few.

Perhaps my favorite memory of U-Dud is the silence that echoed from the visitor's section of Autzen Stadium as Kenny Wheaton jumped the ball and headed for the end-zone...

I'm sure Kiffin threw that out there. But, I don't think Brown went there for that reason. Probably more to do with location, imo.Bigducker wrote:I can imagine what he told the players that had an interest for Oregon, like BB who you know told that he couldn't make it to the NFL in that spread offense. What turns me against UT isn't necessarily Kiffin himself. I can understand the new guy making some blunders. For me, it's how the fans try to rationalize these blunders and disregard the real state of their program as if they just came off a national championship season. Not once have I come across a UT fan that had any semblance of "lets see what happens" humility about their situation. And they probably think that's a good thing.

How is ripping your shirt off and acting like a retard en mass considered a recruiting tool? Also, is it not a recruiting violation to "simulate game day atmosphere"?

Re: Tennessee recruiting practices...
They have Oregon beating Cal by 1 then losing to UCLA by 3 & USC by 10 1/2 (also Boise State by 4). These are some odds to jump on

No way you can bet on these crazy odds, it says courtesy of the Golden Nugget, but I don't believe it. If you could get Oregon getting 10 1/2 points at Oregon, the wise guys would have pounded that down to a pick'em by now, in fact I've heard Oregon could actually be favored.duck55 wrote:They have Oregon beating Cal by 1 then losing to UCLA by 3 & USC by 10 1/2 (also Boise State by 4). Also wouldn't be surprised to see Oregon favored at Boise St when the REAL lines come out.
