He says he plans on using an official visit to travel to Eugene with his family and says he has some old Oregon games on his ipod and phone and is a fan of J Stew and Dennis Dixon.
He averaged 9.8 yards per carry last year. He totaled 1,712 rushing yards and finished with 21 touchdowns.
Distance will play no part in his decision and Mack has yet to step foot on the west coast.
"I've never been to the west coast and can't wait to check out Oregon. Distance doesn't matter, I mean sooner or later you have to move away, especially if you get into the NFL.

I was starting to think I would never hear a recruit say this. Good to see that some of these kids can see that they can't always stay under mom's wing.gofightingducks wrote:Distance doesn't matter, I mean sooner or later you have to move away, especially if you get into the NFL.

CHRIST look at that offer list. This and the Lattimore news are really great things for Oregon.

He says he has heard from all of the big schools with the exception of Ohio State and USC, so he basically can go just about wherever he wants so that is great news for Oregon!Tray Dub wrote:CHRIST look at that offer list. This and the Lattimore news are really great things for Oregon.

He said his mom, dad, and sisters will probably trip with him when he visits Oregon.

Mack Brown seems a bit bigger, but they seem pretty darn similar. If Grant decides to go elsewhere, Brown would be the perfect replacement.

Re: Mack Brown RB
If I was lucky enough to be in a position where I had to choose between Ethan Grant and Mack Brown, I would without a doubt go with Brown. Both he and Grant have breakaway speed, although Grant looks a bit faster. Where they differ IMO is that Brown is much more of a pure RB that does a good job of setting his blocks, accelerating through holes, is tough to bring down and has the breakaway speed to score everytime he touches the ball. Ethan Grant on the other hand has some of those qualities as well, but he is not as strong/big as Brown and he does not have the lateral quickness that Brown has, but instead uses his world class speed to beat everyone to the edge or get through the hole before the defenders even have time to react.

Mack Brown looks like a great RB. Would be happy to have him as a Duck.
But, I give many points and value to Grant giving us his verbal early.

Ethan is a duck, and has major skills.
Fact is we need multiple RBs, Grant is one and i'm sure he's been told already that we will hopefully be taking another one if not two.

Man I would love to land Brown, I think Grant and brown would be amazing together! Either way Grant is going to rip it up here IMO.

Re: Mack Brown RB
Mack Brown, this kid looks awesome!!! I must say I am impressed with CK's national recruiting ability. If Oregon starts actually landing these kids, and with depth, your going to see the Ducks not only win some NC's, but also turn the Pac-10 into the rival of the SEC.
I like Mack a little better than Ethan because he's larger and can put on weight, but with the same break-away speed upside. That's why the entire top 25 has offered him scholarships.
After last year's (2009) disappointing recruiting class, and losing C.Harper to transfer (2008's recruiting class was dope), I was doubting our ability to recruit nationally. But if we land some of these kids from Texas, Michigan, and Florida, it's on!

I don't think it's an either/or with Brown and Grant. Hopefully, they both come. If they're both great, Chip will figure out a way to put them on the field together.
That said, I'm pretty excited too. And I love what he said about moving away once you hit the NFL. I've never thought about it that way, but elite athletes can't live near home forever.

Don't get excited about Mack guys. He's going to be extremely tough to pull from Georgia and Florida.

Reminds me of a faster, higher rated, Brennan Clay
"Huard's gonna go back to throw the ball. Sets up, looks, throws towards the corner of the endzone. It is... INTERCEPTED! INTERCEPTED! THE DUCKS HAVE THE BALL! Down to the 35! The 40! KENNY WHEATON'S GONNA SCORE!!! KENNY WHEATON'S GONNA SCORE!!! 20! THE 10! TOUCHDOWN!!! KENNY WHEATON, AN INTERCEPTION!!! THE MOST IMPROBABLE FINISH TO A FOOTBALL GAME!!!"
