Easley did NOT commit to Florida

Everyone was reporting Easley would probably commit to Florida this weekend, but looks like that didn't happen. Oregon's still in the running.

Re: Easley did NOT commit to Florida
Sounds like Florida turned him down because they think they can get someone better.
"Huard's gonna go back to throw the ball. Sets up, looks, throws towards the corner of the endzone. It is... INTERCEPTED! INTERCEPTED! THE DUCKS HAVE THE BALL! Down to the 35! The 40! KENNY WHEATON'S GONNA SCORE!!! KENNY WHEATON'S GONNA SCORE!!! 20! THE 10! TOUCHDOWN!!! KENNY WHEATON, AN INTERCEPTION!!! THE MOST IMPROBABLE FINISH TO A FOOTBALL GAME!!!"

I have no doubt he would be good enough for the Ducks!

Re: Easley did NOT commit to Florida
Title is misleading. Easley did commit to Florida. They did not accept. They took Neiron Ball for now, they have around 9 spots left so they may welcome Easley back, but for now, they are not ready to take his commitment. I don't see this ending well for Oregon even if he visits.

In a scout article he just recently said:RanDux wrote:So who are his top 3?
“I’m looking at Miami, Oregon, Penn State, Georgia, Michigan, and Florida.”

I can't wait for the day Oregon is able to turn down top talent. What a luxury schools like Oklahoma, USC, Florida, Texas, etc. have.

We turned down Vaughn Telemaque. Not wise.gofightingducks wrote:I can't wait for the day Oregon is able to turn down top talent. What a luxury schools like Oklahoma, USC, Florida, Texas, etc. have.

UO had 1 scholarship left and it was set aside for Pryor, who went to tOSU then Masoli took it. Hmm Masoli or Vaughn that's a tough one. Plus at the time we were set at safety.

You are wrong about that. Zach Taylor, Ellis Krout, and Tyrell Irvin all committed to UO after we had already stopped recruiting Telemaque. He is now in line to start at Miami and has been compared favorably to Ed Reed. It is a mistake to turn down his type of talent, especially when by all legitimate accounts, he is a good kid.

We really do need to get some good safeties in since we don't have much depth after this year when Ward and Titus Jackson leave.

Can somebody in the know clear up what happened with Telemaque? I have a hard time believing we took Krout and the longsnapper over Telemaque, no matter what the depth chart at safety was...

Re: Easley did NOT commit to Florida
I was under the impression Telemaque never tried to commit to Oregon, but I could be wrong.

Remember Vaughn from '08? Lot of (U)SC fans still might hold some negative feelings towards Maque for choosing the Canes over us. He was a LB Poly kid that many expected him to be a Trojan when the smoke cleared. The bitterness might have amplified from losing Donovan Warren the previous year to Michigan.
IIRC, he was thought to be a package deal for USC with Jurrell Caset for a while... You remember Casey, the 4 star '08 DT who snubbed the Ducks for the Trojans?
Bitter taste, meet mouth...
