FWIW, Dontae Williams is not that far off of Lattimore when it comes to talent. Lattimore is a much better receiver and is bigger but Dontae is definitely a big fish out there. Oregon's leading for him.

I think we will miss on him. I also think though that we still have to recruit the east because will be kids that will come out here. If we dont recxruit them we will never get them. Of course I would love to see us get him or any of the ones choose to recruit on east coast.. but yes the deck is stacked against us when it is so far away. I fully support Kelly recruiting there though. It helps raise Oregon's stock and gets Oregon out there everywhere and will be times it will pay dividends.

JustDucky.... I could be mistaken but am pretty sure it was Cal and USC but it doesnt much matter. I was at all 3 and could have swore was USC and Cal. Either way it will be a great game for Lattimore to come.

As long as we get one, I'll be happy. I care more about getting bodies in here and letting the coaches do their things with them than about whether a recruit is more starry than another.tonyd wrote:FWIW, Dontae Williams is not that far off of Lattimore when it comes to talent. Amazing, isn't it, how starry eyed some fans become when looking at the rankings of recruits? LOL...
There are several RB candidates whom Oregon is actively pursuing. I agree that it would be great to see the Ducks sign Lattimore, but I am not holding my breath.
It is so early in the recruiting process.
Malcolm Jones would have been a huge get for Oregon, but he has stated that UCLA, Stanford and Cal are his top 3 (Although he says academics is huge, he also claims he wants to build a "Dynasty" wherever he lands...)
Williams is a possibility who currently ranks the Ducks high, as well as James McConico, and D.L.Jones, among others.
There are also some cureently lower ranked players that may come into play... Chandler Arizona RB Zach Bauman (Rashad's cousin, I believe, is one that comes to mind.

He will narrow it down to Penn State and the Ducks and will ultimately choose Penn State is my feeling.

I see it as a first date. You cross your fingers and hopefully things go well...but you're not invested enough to be too disappointed if it doesn't work out.
All we can hope for is the Ducks to take care of business against USC. Any word on what game he'll visit for Penn State?

Visit is scheduled for October 10 when the mighty Eastern Illinois Panthers (5-7 last year) come to town.freedjr wrote:Any word on what game he'll visit for Penn State?

He picked a great game to go to. Has the makings to be one of those games that ends up with a clip in every ESPN 2009 montage.

Let's just hope this doesn't turn into Bryce Brown all over again. Butler isn't advising him is he?

I never talked to Brown myself last year, but I talk/text with Lattimore a lot. He is really a big nice kid, interested in girls and football and working as hard as he can to get to the NFL. We should be excited he is looking at us as hard as he is.
