2002 PGs

Post by Zyme »

Juan Dixon C+ C+ C C+ D A

Balanced scorer out of Maryland. He does a little of ecerything you ask for and then some. He is one of the best perimeter defenders not named Tayshaun prince. In addition, at the combine he destroyed the shuttle run record, one that had stood since Dana Barros. Not exceptional but very, very good potential.

Dan Dickau C C+ C C+ D A

One of the fastest players in the class, Dickau led the perennial good mid-major Gonzaga to the tourney with the help of a younger Adam Morrison. With a respectable showing in the tourney Dickau looked up and ready for the combine and graded out as one of the best in an admittedly weak class. He has quite good strength for his position and is exceptional at getting around screens. While he grades out as an A potential, consider that a low-A. Very average handles.

Roger Mason C B- C C+ D B

Guard out of Virginia has great lateral movement and one of the better defenders in the class. His main weakness is he is very poor at rebounding but does have a very good strike package for his mid and ourside game. Only above average potential, he should grade out as a rotation man at the next level. Very poor at holding onto the ball.

Jannero Pargo C+ C+ C C D A

In a class of quick guards, Jannero is right up there. His jump shot needs work but otherside he has very good foundation as a point guard at the next level. Scouts think he has all the talent in the world but are very worried with his desire as he arrived at the combine out of shape and seeming to rely on his physicals above all else. Has never had any issues with fumbles in the past.

William Parker C C C+ C+ D+ A

William "Smush" Parker out of small school Fordham sports many of the qualities you are looking for in a point guard. Does a decent job at holding onto the ball, he can get lazy at time (much to his coach's chagrin. One of the best passers in the class he has a good deep ball, albeit quite flat. Solid but not exceptional at stealing the ball he is a very good at closing out on shooters.

Other Point Guards

Junior Harrington C+ C C+ C D+ A

Developmental small school guard. Great physicals, low technical. Great upside.

Keith McLeod C+ C C C- D A

Top shelf finisher inside for a guard with solid strength for his position. Outclassed by others in this combine with his lack of speed. Turned the ball over ten times his senior year.

Ron Grizzard C+ C+ C- C C- B

PG eligible. Good but not great jump shot is the foundation for good scoring base. Very poor passer, kinda poor at holding onto the ball.

Steve Logan C+ C+ C C- D A

Combo guard, extremely fast but poor passer. Decent upside but very injury prone.

Adam Harrington C+ C+ C+ C D+ C

Very good passer but turnover prone. Solid upside but lazy. Very mature defender.

We may not see a PG go until the 20's. This is ugly.
