Allen is being recruited as a WR.

Even at WR, he could see some early playing time since we use so many multiple WR sets. Plus, we lost Lane to pro baseball and we lose Cavaille to graduation so there is some room there. If he's as good as people have said, he would should have no problem seeing some playing time.

What is Alabama recruiting him as and could he end up being tried at safety by the coaches if that option arises?

Not likely to happen, but I really wish some of these two way players would play defense once in a blue moon. For as long as I can remember we have drained talent from the defense to the benefit of the offense (Barner anyone?). It is impossible to say which side a player plays on is better overall for the team, but I wish the ratio was closer to 50-50. Could Allen be a big time player at receiver? Sure but he'd likely be one out of 3-4 good receivers fighting to get his hands on the ball but he also appears to have the ability to start and be a physically dominant safety for 3-4 years. But what do I know? ;)
Stewart Mandel-"From a purely aesthetic standpoint, I much prefer to watch a good spread-rushing offense over a traditional Power-I offense, and Oregon's has been the most fun by far for the past several years. It's fast, its precise, and when Chip Kelly has the right quarterback (Dixon, Masoli) at the helm, the possibility of someone ripping off a 60-yard run exists on nearly every play."

I don't know about Alabama, but I'd be willing to bet they are recruiting him at WR as well.

And I bet safety is always an option, but both himself and the coaches want him to play WR. And we still need a stud WR. I think Allen could start as a freshman. He's serious talent.

From everything I've read, I believe Bama is recruiting him as a safety.

He is a five star and rated the # 1 recruit in the nation at safety, can't see them switching him to WR when there are so many others out there.

Sorry if this has already been mentioned... Is Allen okay to play WR? Or would he rather play safety?

I know thats a couple weeks ago, but he said Alabama is recruiting him as a WR.

Not sure if things have changed, but I'm pretty confident he's being recruiting as a WR by both schools.
