I haven't even heard if Meline made the trip since he committed to Tennessee a week or two ago.

Yeah I don't think Meline made the trip.

And nothing on Ivan yet.

McCartney update.

http://oregon.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=992341

"I'd give it a nine," he said. "To make it a ten there's not too much you can do. The reason why it was not a ten is that it's really far (from home). It doesn't play a major role, but it plays a part because I would love for my family to come and watch me play sometimes."

Says he was thinking about committing. I kinda feel like this one might slip like past Florida recruits would. His high point with Oregon was on the visit, but once he goes home and goes to Miami and Florida, I just think our chances will dwindle.

No inside information, just kinda my gut feeling.

Thanks TK. It's always good news when recruits talk about feeling like committing on their visit. We'll see how it goes with him.

WR doesn't seem like it's too big of a need right now so it's not imperative that we get McCartney or another WR. I don't really see any WRs that Oregon has to get this year. There don't really seem to be any highly-ranked WRs that Oregon is after, except McCartney, or has a reasonable chance at getting. It would be nice to get one since it would help balance out the class better on the offensive side of the ball.

I agree with this one. We've heard recruits say distance means nothing, but eventually stays close to home because on family. Ivan plain out said he doesn't like how far away it is (even thought he "says" it won't affect his decision"). I'm not saying he's wrong by any means, but I'm gonna count him out. I hope I get pleasantly surprised though.

It doesn't seem as though Florida is going to be a big a hit as it seemed back in the spring. I think we only get Grant and Dixon from Florida. We will probably get more recruits from North Carolina than Florida, which is fine by me since we are getting some of that state's best recruits. It'll probably be another year or 2 before we can get people from Florida regularly, but with FSU and Miami getting back up and going, it's going to be tougher to get the top talent out of that state. I still think that Texas holds a lot more promise than Florida since it's not as far and seems to produce good quantities of talented players.

That's not 100%, I know for a fact that both Harris (current 'Canes qb) and Streeter where set to commit, but their parents talked them into staying close to home.

Great news guys and TK thanks for sharing your thoughts!

As far as Harris and Streeter I agree, if it wasn't for their parents they would be Ducks but that's just how it goes and it will happen again...it sucks!

I look forward to seeing how this turns out!

We haven't heard a whole lot about him. What is up with Jean? Are the coaches not going after him due to the limited number of scholarships?
