Boyd To Oregon IMO

This thread is titled Boyd to Oregon probably because of this line: "Now when I make my decision I won't regret anything."

I think on the surface, people would think he means that now all the cards on the table, he can finally make a decision after seeing all the colleges he wanted to see. But I think if you read between the lines, you could interpret that as, I've already been thinking Oregon, this trip confirmed the fact that I still want to go to Oregon, but at least I saw Clemson and won't have to live with not at least giving it a visit, something along those lines.

That's just my take.

That's probably reading too much into it, IMO. I think he is simply saying he has looked at all the facts now for making his decision. Let's hope it's Oregon!

Baron clarified more in the same thread. New isn't good. TB's dad text him and said Clemson is selling them big time on Tajh being able to start as RS FR in 2010. They've made a very strong pitch that their other young stud - Willy Korn - may not make it back due to injuries, etc. and some other QB may get moved to LB. This is why all is even Steven right now. Way too early to be counting TB as a Duck.

Just sounds like more of the same: parents want him closer to home. CK is going to have to win this battle in their living room. Though they say all 3 are even, I think it's us vs Clemson.

Clemson would be the worst choice of the 3 for Boyd. Once again, how many Clemson offensive players have gone on to play in the NFL recently? Plus, I doubt Clemson could match Oregon's sports marketing program.

It also sounds like Clemson is selling him BS. Boyd will get playing time about the same time wherever he goes.

I hate Clemson. Again they played the religion card, WHY THE **** does it matter that their coach is religious? Does that have ANYTHING of significance to do with football? Geez, Clemson just seems like a bunch of dirtbags and I would despise them if they get Boyd based on their religion pitch. IMO Boyd, unlike McNeal, can see right through that. They aren't concentrating on pitching their football with Boyd because they don't want a fair fight, and realize Oregon kicks Clemson's ass as a program and will continue to do so. Come on, Boyd, everyone wants you at Oregon, please make the right call in being a Duck!

If he goes to Clemson it is all about playing time, and having lived in "the south" and lived in Eugene, there are a lot more churches down here...

that is something that we can't compete with

as has been said many times around here, we are in good hands at the QB position and can definitely get a highly rated recruit or two in the next couple of years

Fellow Duck fans, you need to relax. There is nothing in these updates that should lead you guys to believe Boyd won't be a Duck. He was an Oregon lean going into the Clemson visit and from the sound of it they didn't change his mind. When he decides I bet we will be happy.

I too think we win this battle, but Baron (Midwest Scout reporter) over on eDuck (the one getting the texts from TB's dad) says the dad is the string puller in the family. He says Tajh favors us and dad isn't convinced yet. He's not saying dad wouldn't sign, but dad need to be 100% sold on Oregon.

Now the p.t. issue can probably be overcome by Chip simply because we're only talking about 1 year difference. If he does RS and sits behind JM as a RS FR, then it's just 1 year. Furthermore, Clemson is trying to sell the Boyds on "what ifs". They can't guarantee him any of this as they don't know for sure what will happen with Korn, etc.

Like I said, in the end I'm confident. Just have to wade thru mucky stuff until he announces.

The parents will be happy once Tahj commits and the family moves to Eugene and they get a chance to see the all of the facilities (particularly the rehab facility)

Wow. Did you ever play football? Has it occurred to you that maybe he wants to have some sort of relationship with his coach? How can you possibly call anyone a dirtbag without knowing anything about them? Why do I ask so many questions? Seriously, religion was obviously a big part of McNeal's life. I played football, and I know it's much better to have a coach that can be a friend and somewhat of a secondary father figure, than just another teacher. Dabo shares the same religious views as McNeal, and I guess Boyd too. You make it sound like it's a trick, yet you really have no clue.
