Oregon offers 2017 Arizona QB Commit Burmeister
Oregon has made a late offer to 2017 QB Braxton Burmeister, who's currently an Arizona commit that plans to enroll in school within the next week. May be a little late and not considered one of the top passing QBs on the West Coast, but he fits in Taggart's offense similar to Flowers at USF due to his athleticism and running ability. His one main Oregon connection is that he's a pupil of Akili Smith, who tweeted out the offer. If he doesn't flip, Oregon may move on to future visitor Kaymen Cureton to find a QB commit in this class.

A few days for him to change his mind? Highly unlikely.

The coaches walking that thin line between boldness and desperation. I like it.

Helf and the current staff didn't exactly leave the QB recruiting in the best of conditions upon their exit.Phalanx wrote:The coaches walking that thin line between boldness and desperation. I like it.

He reminds me of Luke rubenzer from cal. A bowling ball of a QB but he eventually switched to safety to actually see the field.

Agreed. Maybe that is the pitch - 'you'll be the only QB in this class'. Hard to see Burmeister changing his mind, but you never know, I guess.greenyellow wrote:Helf and the current staff didn't exactly leave the QB recruiting in the best of conditions upon their exit.Phalanx wrote:The coaches walking that thin line between boldness and desperation. An Arizona mod said if burmeister was to visit Oregon that he is pretty much a lock to flip cause he has wanted an Oregon offer. We will know within the next few days really.
I suppose it's fine to take a flier on a QB every cycle, but I view him more like Hobbs(same with kamyron cureton) than a Herbert for a late QB offer.

Is it true that he threw over 4K yard this year?

Arizona mod just predicted him to Oregon, he is supposed to be in Tucson tomorrow.
I haven't heard anything about him being an EE here if he were to flip

He'd be cutting it really close since classes for Oregon start Monday. While a couple recruiting people on 247 have CB'd him to Oregon today, I'll believe he flips when I see it.lukeyrid13 wrote:Arizona mod just predicted him to Oregon, he is supposed to be in Tucson tomorrow.

Same. He obviously has a strong pull towards the ducks to even flirt at literally the last minute but it seems like it's just too late for a conceivable visit and switch.greenyellow wrote:He'd be cutting it really close since classes for Oregon start Monday. Re: Oregon offers 2017 Arizona QB Commit Burmeister
With the way the previous staff recruited, it seems that they stopped trying for 2017 QBs once Herbert got the starting job. That basically left Taggart flat-footed and out of position for many top QBs, which means they've had to jumpstart that process by trying to poach one from another school and possibly taking a flyer on a raw guy like Kaymen Cureton.lukeyrid13 wrote:Same. Who needs qb depth, it's overrated! signed Mark Helfrich.greenyellow wrote:Helf and the current staff didn't exactly leave the QB recruiting in the best of conditions upon their exit.Phalanx wrote:The coaches walking that thin line between boldness and desperation. I like it.

Re: Oregon offers 2017 Arizona QB Commit Burmeister
Per Nemec, Oregon has made a real move for Burmeister but it's still questionable if they made up enough ground. In a year where the West Coast was ripe with top-flight QB talent, it'd be a real bummer if they couldn't get anyone of them and have to settle for a major project that may or may not ever play QB.
