Darrian Felix Commits
http://www.espn.com/college-sports/foot ... rian-felix
Size-Strength-Speed
Does not look quite as big on tape as verified measurables. Appears to be more of a scat type guy. Is both quick and fast, but not elite speed. Shows shake and change-of-direction. Is very fleet of foot with the ball in his hands.
Ball Skills
Is very comfortable handling the ball in a variety of ways as a RB, WR and return man. Catches the ball in traffic and can catch the ball in stride.
Versatility
Is primarily used as a running back/slot pass catcher with some limited duty on defense where he seems to be on that side of the ball just to contribute some.
Big Play Ability
Is a quick and elusive ball carrier with good vision and decisiveness in-line. More of a jump cut guy than he is a slasher. Is quick to bounce plays to the sideline once at the second level, but may not have the true speed to consistently turn the corner and win footraces. The same could be said after the catch. He is a guy that can extend plays by making people miss. If he gets a crease as a return man he can flip field position.
Bottom Line
Felix is a quality prospect with terrific versatility. He may have some top end speed limitations, but he is very productive. Player that will likely see a mix of group of five and power five attention.
Underclassman Eval
STRENGTHS: Very versatile prospect who is comfortable playing everywhere at the high school level - out wide, in the slot, running back, corner and returns kicks. Displays impressive initial burst and foot quickness coupled with adequate top end speed. Makes defenders miss and finishes runs. Flashes natural hands. ... AREAS OF IMPROVEMENT: Only possesses marginal height for a receiver or corner and will need to add bulk to remain at running back. Little experience in blitz pickup or blocking in the run game. Speed is not elite. ... BOTTOM LINE: Felix is a versatile, quick and tough Power 5 prospect. Utility weapon who could give coaches a lot of options. Recruiting would heat up with a growth spurt.

There's Oregon's 3rd FL commit. Only one more to match the predicted number.

I think I read somewhere he'll be used in the slot. I don't believe two of the current commits will stay Ducks. I have read Demetrius Douglas and Johnny Johnson are potentially looking elsewhere. IMO, not a bad thing. I like Felix and what he brings.

with how little those guys have been talked about and guys Taggart is recruiting from FL, I was kind of wondering if they'd be expendable.jimmy12 wrote:I think I read somewhere he'll be used in the slot. Douglas falls into the build a wall around Oregon theme, but perhaps lacks the "juice."

Lots of speed. And I love his offer list. Great pickup for the Ducks!

Loooove this! Felix runs a laser timed 4.4, is close to 200 lbs, and had a top 5 SPARQ score at The Opening. Extremely versatile too. Excited to see him.

Strange that the analysis of him mentions several times the lack of a top gear. I would say if his 40 is 4.4, then that's a pretty high standard to not call that top end fast.

Its funny, I have seen people run the exact same 40 yard dash time at camps and the commentator will say that one has great top end speed and the other needs to work on his top end speed.
Its funny.

I always find that funny as well. Sometimes wonder if people are just watching the running form or initial start when they say that.Howry wrote:Its funny, I have seen people run the exact same 40 yard dash time at camps and the commentator will say that one has great top end speed and the other needs to work on his top end speed.
