The more I follow recruiting, the more I think the way to go is get your highly touted kid every other year with guys who don't have quite the ego in between. So for instance, if Oregon can land Burmeister, I don't think that dissuades a kid like Dorian Thompson-Robinson signing in the class of 2018, whereas signing a more touted guy this year would.
Weird theory, I know, but I've just seen so many schools load up on 5* QBs and then they struggle with attrition.

What do you think of the possibility that DTR might not want to follow Burmeister to Oregon because they are both coached by Akili? Both of them can't be the guy.StevensTechU wrote:The more I follow recruiting, the more I think the way to go is get your highly touted kid every other year with guys who don't have quite the ego in between. Zero. DTR isn't afraid to compete with Braxton.

That's a good point, and I really couldn't say. I think the biggest challenge for Oregon in recruiting DTR is that his mom really wants him to go to the most academically prestigious school that he can get into, which will give Michigan and UCLA a leg up even though UofO is undoubtedly a better fit on the field.ifuwant2 wrote:What do you think of the possibility that DTR might not want to follow Burmeister to Oregon because they are both coached by Akili? Oh, I don't think DTR is afraid of the competition. I do know that sometimes a qb coach will not advise players to play at the same school. Now, it's different since Akili is a Duck, but if you have two players at the same school, only one of them gets to start. One of the two might have a hard time advancing his career. And for Akili to advance his career as a qb coach, he needs guys in the NFL or winning major conference awards. Conflict of interest to have two guys at one school.buckmarkduck wrote:Zero. Now, that's just speculation and theorizing. Doesn't mean jack for the real possibilities of landing both dudes. Just wondering if it's a factor.
