DeMarcus Smith from Kentucky a dual-threat QB on ESPN's 150 watch list
He will be visiting for the Halloween USC showdown!
“My top five right now is Oregon, Florida State, Alabama, Kentucky, and Louisville in that order,” said Smith.

Sounds good. Let's hope that he enjoys his visit and that the top school pulls away from the the others! What do we know about him?

Notice the plane that we flew on?

I couldn't find his profile on Scouts or Rivals all I could find was his ESPN profile and it doesn't have much info. But if he is on the ESPN 150 watch list he must be pretty good!
2008: Junior year Completed 169 of 329 pass attempts (51.4-percent) for 3,227 yards and 32 touchdowns... Rushed for 457 yards and three touchdowns on 99 carries (4.6 average)...

It's likely we take 2 QBs from this class. Getting Damarcus would be huge.. But I won't lie, it's hard to get excited about recruits this early.

Which class? 2010 or 2011?UOducksTK1 wrote:It's likely we take 2 QBs from this class. Getting Damarcus would be huge.. But I won't lie, it's hard to get excited about recruits this early.

I think we are pretty much done recruiting QBs with the 2010 class. Look for us to take 2 QBs for 2011. So it's good to see we're already in on one of the best QBs in the class of 2011. (However there is a chance we just take one stud QB from 2011, but 2 QBs would make more sense)greenyellow wrote:Which class? 2010 or 2011?UOducksTK1 wrote:It's likely we take 2 QBs from this class. See he blew out his knee. ACL, minicus. Yikes.
Not sure the Ducks will offer and take a chance he heals properly
think they have seen enough ACLs at QB.

I'm pretty sure he'll get offered after the USC visit. Smith is going to be one of the best dual threat QBs in the nation next year. And he really loves Oregon, so I doubt his injury scares Oregon away.sx1080 wrote:See he blew out his knee. ACL, minicus. Yikes.

The only Scout 4 Star or higher QB prospect currently listed as being from west of the Mississippi is current Stanford commit, Evan Crower.
As far as the injury goes, a lot depends on how well the surgery and rehab progress.
Little doubt he would be a redshirt, right out of the box.
At 6'/179/4.6, there is still room to grow.
Do the Duck QB coaches have a fetish for skinny players?

It's nice that he's visiting this year rather than next year. No waiting and hoping he just makes a visit, and gives us a head start.

I'm not sure if they'll offer him just because his name is DaMarcus instead of LaMarcus. It just might mess up the whole mojo.

It's the 'A' in Da and La that throws you. In latin, it has feminine connotations... In Duck, it's all MAN!

I knew there was a reason Latin was no longer a required course of study!
