pretty sure he was choice 1.

Perhaps I’m in the minority, but I’m not too concerned with who Oregon’s offensive coordinator will be, since WT will likely be heavily involved on that side of the ball and call his own plays.

Cristobal is known as a great recruiter but, as far as I can tell, hasn’t been an offensive coordinator before. It’s also a lot easier to bring offensive lineman to Alabama than it will be to bring recruits to Eugene, Oregon.

If we don’t get him then the LSU wide receivers coach (Dameyune Craig) would probably be just as good, IMHO. Craig was a QB in college (Auburn) and in the NFL Europe, and was a co-offensive coordinator at Auburn.

FootballScoop saying that Cristobal is interviewing with WMU tomorrow.

Doesn't seem like a good sign if this is "all wrapped up" like we've been hearing it is.

Craig was considered at first, but then we moved on. Don't think he's an option any longer.

Beginning to sound like Taggart should start looking at backup plans for the remaining positions.

WMU would have to double what they payed Fleck, to even compete with UO offer. I don't see them paying him double, when he has a losing record as a HC.

I wasn't aware that Oregon "moved on." Was he not interested in the position or was Cristobal viewed as a better option?

Both...I think.

Big reason why Craig was connected to the Oregon job and why there were initial discussions between both parties was because he and Taggart had a history. However (credit Justin for this) it sounded like Craig was only interested in the big paycheck that came with being the OC/position coach.

Cristobal filled a bigger need as an O-line coach and he's a better recruiter than Craig. Has HC experience and coached for the best team in the country. That and he wanted out of Bama...

Hopkins said Mario was the primary target and that talks with Craig were never serious.

That'll be interesting to follow. Have to assume WMU will be in a position to pay more and if he's successful there he's on his way to being a power 5 HC. Compared to being a coordinator at Oregon, seems like WMU has the upper hand on this one. I guess we are hoping WMU likes someone else more.

He won't be the first guy they interviewed, seems like they're doing their due diligence at this point.
