He could very well be using either Oregon or WMU as leverage for the other.

Chances are they go another direction.
Still a good shot to land him.
Even if he comes, Mario won't be at Oregon for long

Just posted this on the Autzen stadium thread about Cristobal, but my brother talked to an assistant yesterday and was told " we have our O line coach but it hasn't been made public yet."
Despite some reports that contradict him coming to Eugene, I think MC is a Duck. We will see.

Re: Mario Cristobal hire?
WMU paid Fleck 425k. Oregon has already offered about 2x that. They aren't leverage for more money. They don't have deep enough pockets to be a leverage move. They likely pick someone else at WMU and we get MC.Ducks10 wrote:He could very well be using either Oregon or WMU as leverage for the other.

Re: Mario Cristobal hire?
There were rumors that WMU was getting ready to offer Fleck a big pay raise so I wonder if they'd do that for their new coach so they attract a quality guy.QB11 wrote:WMU paid Fleck 425k. What assistant coach? They were all unemployed at the time.Duckenstein wrote:Maybe. Re: Mario Cristobal hire?
Pretty sure they were offering Fleck a 30 million dollar contract. IIRC some boosters were willing to pitch in money for that extension. If WMU likes someone, I am not surprised if they tried to get a semi-big deal going. You have to remember Fleck was only paid 425k because he was a young nobody coach coaching a cellar dweller before he brought them to the Cotton Bowl.greenyellow wrote:There were rumors that WMU was getting ready to offer Fleck a big pay raise so I wonder if they'd do that for their new coach so they attract a quality guy.QB11 wrote:WMU paid Fleck 425k. 30 Mill for WMU? No Flecking way unless it was a 30 year contract.scoducks wrote:Pretty sure they were offering Fleck a 30 million dollar contract. Re: Mario Cristobal hire?
That's what the rumor was. It was a 10-year contract on the table. Here was the link I saw when WMU thought he was going to Purdue. Of course I DO NOT see WMU forking that much money over, but I could see a substantial amount.. He did bring WMU to relevancy plus be the ESPN media darlings.damascusduck wrote:30 Mill for WMU? Re: Mario Cristobal hire?
There were staff and boosters that thought it was going to be Chip and that he kept changing his mind. I tend to believe them. And I also believe when an assistant coach says " we have our O line coach." it means we have an O line coach. There's always a possibility it's not MC but I have a hunch it is. Should find out soon.Duckenstein wrote:Maybe. What is the time frame looking like? Should we know either way by Saturday?OregonDonor wrote:There were staff and boosters that thought it was going to be Chip and that he kept changing his mind. I don't know. I'll check but I doubt he knows since he didn't mention it earlier.Gradyj14 wrote:What is the time frame looking like?
