Re: Braxton Burmeister
Few people on here were saying "Yeah but he (WT) still hasn't flipped a 4*/5* yet" as if it's really easy to do. Well there you go, now he has.

Re: Braxton Burmeister
I dont know a lot about Burmeister but I do find it interesting that ESPNs write up on him considers him a pocket passer and not a good fit for a zone read team.
Size-Strength-Mobility
Possesses average height for the position. Has some stature to his frame and is sturdy. Is just an above average athlete for the position. Not a guy that will make dynamic plays with his feet or be a significant part of the run game. Is capable of navigating the pocket and buying second passing chances.
Mental-Makeup
Highly competitive. Tough and poised in the pocket, keeps his eyes on coverage when rushed and can get rid of the ball quickly. Shows very good command of the offense, is confident and appears to have natural leadership skills. Has a cool presence and doesn't get rattled. Can flush the pocket too early at times and must be more disciplined adhering to his progressions.
Accuracy
He has nice touch on vertical throws and can drop balls in over coverage. He excels at leading receivers on crossing routes and knows how to change up his velocity to make balls easier to catch and run with. Throw a very catchable short-to-intermediate ball. He has both good timing and accuracy as a passer and does not spray the ball around.
Release/Arm Strength
Is a touch and timing passer, not a rocket armed guy. He may not have an elite arm or an overly physical stature, but he has upside to develop strength physically. We wish Burmeister did not prop the ball up so high to his ear, and while his release is smooth, it can have a slight hitch appearance due to where he carries the ball. Needs to be on time and get his lower body involved to generate consistent power. Can pitch and catch very well. Shows enough strength on the move to throw well off balance. Deep ball will sail on him a bit and deep intermediate throws can be a bit of a challenge.
Bottom Line
Burmeister is one of those guys that may never have great physical tools, but he is productive. He reminds us so much of former Utah QB Jordan Wynn. He is a late bloomer that would be a good fit for a dink and dunk spread or west coast scheme where his release and ability to be on time can be maximized.
Underclassman Eval
STRENGTHS: Heady quarterback with good balance and solid mechanics. Possesses some zip to his ball and has the arm strength to make all the throws. Excels in the short passing game and has a knack for knowing when to tuck and run. Anticipates well and sets his receivers up to run after the catch. ...AREAS OF IMPROVEMENT: Undersized quarterback who will need throwing windows. More of a pocket passer who lacks the athleticism to run the zone read at the next level. Throwing motion is a bit long. ...BOTTOM LINE: Burmeister is a polished high school quarterback who is a bit undersized for the next level. However, he has good arm talent and the moxie to win a job. We expect that he will land at a Power-5 school.

The same ESPN who thought Mariota would possibly move to WR in college?
