The cool thing though is whoever else starts must be better than Justin Herbert -- which means our offense should be really ****ing good next season.
Hot take: I predict that Terry wilson will be our QB next year
Ain't happening.

I'll be hines and shut that down. Wilson has a ways to go and Herbert is light years ahead.

I'm not an argumentative poster on these boards so take what I'm about to say in the best way possible. That isn't a hot take, it's a dumb take unless Herbert has an injury. People are over eager to make this prediction because Flowers ran a lot at South Florida.

the Wilson is starting crowd needs to stop, and now...dude could barely throw a forward pass in the spring game, he's not going to beat out Herbert who has plenty of athleticism and CAN run (he's not a Manning stiff and I'm not sure why people think that), has a rocket launcher for an arm and a bunch of starts + the trust of his team

Herbert is a top draft pick level talent and Taggart will shape his offense around him because that's what good offensive coaches do, just like Chip who shaped his offenses differently for Masoli, DT and finally Marcus to maximize their strengths. WT has never had a QB like Herbert to work with before and you better believe he's excited about it, he's not looking elsewhere

Wilson will be a very solid backup next year which is absolutely necessary, but barring a miracle or an injury he isn't even close to Herbert right now

I'm excited about the QB battle this spring. I actually think Herbert doesn't have it as locked down as most people think but he's definitely the favorite.

they'll definitely compete but I have yet to see an argument for Wilson even having a chance other than he's similar to Flowers from USF

yeah well now Taggart has a QB with a NFL arm and experience, he's not going to kick him to the curb JFC

Hebert is clearly the favorite. But Wilson is not as bad as a few posters want people to believe. QB11 said Wilson was the truth early in Fall practice. This coach, and the skill sets needed to run what I believe he really wants, makes Wilson at least believe he has a shot. And if then he jibes with the coaches, I could see him pushing Herbert. Most people recognize that Herbert is the likely starter. I just don't understand why the prospect of even discussing the competition pisses people off so much. Is it the home town boy thing? I mean, folks are over on the Bama site saying Hurts shouldn't be the starter next year. The SEC offensive player of the year. I think it's ok for people to wonder what's going to happen at Oregon.

A lot of talk about Herbert and Wilson but nothing on Jonsen...interesting. Who are the other QBs? Lockie grad and Alie (if he's still here) isn't going to be QB but that leaves just three on scholarship?

It's the "5th different starter in 4 years" part that triggers people. Herbert runs like a Vernon Adams/Aaron Rodgers type, which is alright, that's his only knock.

I'm not sure Alie is a QB anymore either, but at least that makes 5. I suppose we could count Griffin too, since we are swinging such a wide loop.

Well-- I am just stating what the Ducks Roster tell me. I'll let them know your feedback that he isn't a QB. http://www.goducks.com/roster.aspx?path ... t=position

No one has anything locked down, but he's id be shocked if Herbert doesn't win the qb job. I also won't be shocked if in 2018 Wilson is playing WR.
