Grazi. Glad to be back. Just bolted from DT. It sucks with Justin gone and quite frankly, there's as much or more info here. Why pay for crap!
It's getting worse over there. Trolls are running rampant and there is no insider info anymore. Props to Matt for trying though.
BUT back to the topic at hand on this thread. I bet Kanan flips to us. AA and Cristobal will work his recruiting skills on him. I rank him better than Jaxson and Shear.
Seriously hope so. I really like that kids film. He has a good body type, plays nasty and through the whistle. His technique is measurably better than both Jaxson and Shear.
Jaxson is a project. I eval'd him his junior year. His dad was phenomenal and a tough SOB but Jaxson hasn't grown into his body yet, moves slow, plays lazy and counts on his size not technique. His build is little wonkie too and personally I'd pass on him if we can land that JUCO tackle and Kanan.
Only saw Shears film. If he's a legit 6'4 and 290 he could be good, seriously athletic for his size(if accurate) but little concerned about his technique and his film was a little weak with 1 on 1 against viable competition. However, with his athleticism, he can be taught easier, he plays nasty and as a legacy, I'm betting honor & pride for his father could be a perfect mixture for an overachiever. If we're going to reach, I would reach on Shear.

Agreed. I am not sold at all on Jaxson. As you said he is a project. As you said if there is someone because we have no choice it should be Shear. He would be a hard worker and is more athletic. I honestly feel we can wait on him a LITTLE bit later due to him being a legacy. I feel if we offered he would flip in an instant.
In a perfect world though, Cristobal will land Mekhi Becton and Kanan Ray. I honestly hope we Ray in for a visit. If he does go on a visit easily can see the flip. Let's hope Cristobal puts in work tonight with Leavitt while visiting Becton in Virginia. I believe they are both watching his basketball game tonight or was tonight. Hope ground gets made up and we convince him to play cross country.

If we get those two we should be ecstatic. IMO I think we'll flip Kanan, losing Klemm and having the chance to work under an Outland trophy coach is pretty compelling but don't see Becton jumping ship last minute. If that's the case or if we have enough room i wouldn't mind grabbing Shear if WT blocking schemes are going to utilize traps and pulls a bit more for guards. Kids also a long snapper which we'll need in 18' so not a bad move in either case. Kinda hoping on the Big JUCO tackle who's visiting. He's legit.

Agree he's better than Jaxson. I'd say it's a coin flip of who will be better between him and Shear, or simply that I don't have an eye good enough to differentiate.
Also agree on it getting worse. I look over the board as a source of info, and holy crap, the threads there turn to garbage so fast now.

Pretty crazy how bad DT got. It happened quick. What's worse is the diatribe is literally ridiculous. They fall off topic in like 4 posts and spend the rest of their time arguing. With JHOP, QB11, MVB, DDDuck, etc. there's was a small confederacy of individuals who still had 1 or 2 contacts that could offer some inside info. It had started to descend into chaos early in the season and really got awful after JHOP left. Got some scoop from 1 of the guys closer to JHOP and yeah, he was unceremoniously screwed over and shown the door. Now all you get is supposition and BS. The worst part is that a lot of us are ex-players who have coached or eval'd and now all that's on the board are trolls with literally no understanding of football stubbornly adhering to their opinions with literally no clue of what they are talking about. I, for the most part, quit posting because of attacks on virtually anything I shared from my experience by morons so you would spend time pointing out their idiocy and it all got ridiculous.

On DT, I got the impression that there were people working to undermine the site and Justin. It was slowly building through last summer and into the season, and everything just blew up during the coaching change and hires. Every thread became an argument over nothing. Though I appreciate the insiders, I also appreciate people who want to have an honest conversation about Duck football. Even if I disagree, I want to hear what people are honestly thinking. I bleed green and yellow, but I don't wear the glasses. I like to hear when somebody doesn't like a recruit, or a position unit, or the use of players or whatever. Even if I think another person is crazy in their opinion. Insiders and former football players can be wrong too. All's we have to do is think about opinions leading up to last year and the past few years of recruiting. Honestly, I think Duck fans are in a better mental place now than we were a couple years ago. We kid ourselves less. I think forum interaction can actually improve because of it.
