Boyett wasn't a fundamental tackler either, TBH.

Popo and Niu are recruiting him hard though so maybe he changes his mind.

Well certainly not traditional fundamentals, but his helmet spear to the trailing ankle was one of the most consistent tackles I have ever seen. No matter how big, strong or fast they were when he speared um there, they went down.Phenom wrote:Boyett wasn't a fundamental tackler either, TBH.

I wasn't taking anything away from Boyett at all, he's one of my more recent favorite Ducks, it was more of a complement. You see a lot of 17-19yr olds who are 6' 4" that don't seem to have great balance and body control, coordination. He seems very fluid, like a Gazelle when he is running or jumping for a ball. Plus I think he has better hands than Boyett. Wasn't trying to start an argument, its just IMHO he seems more athletic and also has a higher ceiling.StevensTechU wrote:Not to derail this thread, but how do you figure he's more athletic than Boyett was?rsbgduck wrote:A Boyet type only more athletic.

He is really athletic, with size too. IIRC, Boyett ran a 4.60/40 while coming back from injury to try to still make the NFL dream happen. On top of that, was stronger than most linebackers we've had lately. Overall, Boyett was on par with TJ Ward in terms of measurables, maybe even faster pre-injury. Too bad he was way behind in terms of maturity.rsbgduck wrote: I wasn't taking anything away from Boyett at all, he's one of my more recent favorite Ducks, it was more of a complement.
