Polynesian Bowl (Sat Jan 21 8 PM PST ESPN3)

Post by greenyellow »

In the 1st Annual Polynesian Bowl, it'll be Team Marcus Mariota vs Team Ronnie Stanley. Here's the Oregon targets and the team they're on:
Team Mariota:
4* OL/DL Popo Aumavae
3* LB Jordan Lolohea
4* LB Sampson Niu
4* DB Isaiah Pola-Mao
3* DL Myron Tagovailoa-Amosa

Team Stanley:
4* TE Josh Falo
3* DL Austin Faoliu
3* ATH Cyrus Habibi-Likio
3* DT Brandon Pili

One player I can't find on the teams is 4* Isaac Slade-Matautia, who'd been slated to play and was expected to announce his commitment at the game. Will update once there's some news on that front.

It was reported by 247sports that he wasn't committing at the Poly Bowl anymore, but that's inaccurate. He IS going to be picking a school then.

Cyrus Habibi-Likio posted a photo of him with a bunch of other Oregon commits and recruits throwing up the O. From L to R, it looks like: Falo, Faoliu, Aumavae, CHL, and Niu. Surprised they couldn't get Slade-Matautia in it somehow. Also, in an interview on Scout, Faoliu said that he'd feel comfortable committing to Oregon because he likes and trusts Coach Salave'a. I imagine that's the case with many of the Poly guys. Getting Salave'a is going to pay big dividends down the road.

Love that Poly Bowl pic. I'd like to think we have a shot at Myron Tag-Amosa too now that USC may get Marlon and Jay T. The only other question I have is the one that comes from another poster above. Does Cyrus have a Duck offer? He keeps happy smiling his way into any Duck related picture like he's full on recruiting for us. But I thought he didn't have an offer. Would be super sad if signing day came around, and we ended up not having room for him. That's why I gotta believe he not only has an offer but is a commit.

I believe he has an offer on the defensive side of the ball at the WILL spot.

Over the years....I think that most of you've got the hang of pronouncing our kids names, but just in case:

Aumavae: Ah-uu-ma-vah-eh
Lolohea: Loh-loh-heh-ah
Niu: Nee-uu
Pola-Mao: Po-lah Mah-oo
Tagovailoa-Amosa: Tah-go-va-ee-loh-ah Ah-moh-sah
Falo: Fah-lo
Faoliu: Fah-oh-lee-uu
Likio: Lee-kee-oh
Pili: Pee-lee
Matautia: Mah-tah-uu-tee-ah

Hope that helps....my fellow quacker bretheran!

Thought I read somewhere ISM pulled out of the Poly game to visit Oregon this weekend? Maybe Im thinking of someone else?

That was Jordan Lolohea's plan, but not sure if that's the case since he's not the biggest poster on Twitter and haven't seen anyone confirm it. ISM visited last weekend.

Dang I thought we'd have 2-3 quacks today and I come on and there's not a peep about commits.

What happened to faouli, Slade
Matautia, Falo, Gibson?
