UCLA is definitely the frontrunner for Gates. I know Taggart did an in-home recently, but I don't think they went nearly as hard after him as UCLA has.

Kinda makes you wonder why they didn't stay on top of Robinson-Carr. Word was he decommitted because nobody contacted him.
I don't think they were interested. They can have Chase Rogers if they want. I'm guessing they'll try to bring in Kemari Averett this weekend, and fall back to Rogers if they can't get a visit. Doesn't sound like it went well with Johnson.

I wonder/question a few things that have happened since coach Taggart took over. But at this point I don't question anything about his recruiting. The man is a superstar on that front.

I don't think there is enough information to make such a statement. As of now, he's very much benefiting from Oregon's brand and the change brought with it a chance to sell optimism. If he has a bad season next year, we will find out more what kind of recruiter he really is. I wasn't especially impressed with his recruiting at South Florida, but it's also not an easy place to bring in top tier recruits despite being in South Florida. That said, we'll see in a few years how his classes stack and how good he really is at identifying top talent.

Considering Taggart didn't tweet anything about a call from a recruit (Duck Hunting), I'd be shocked if Gates committed to us.

Fair enough, so far I like what I see.

Thanks JHop. Hoping for a great season this year and a top 15 2018 class with a full year of recruiting.

We need some 5* kids to get back to the top.
