Another Commit

Post by KingofDucks »

His name is Keaton Arden. He goes to the high school I attended, Piedmont High School in Piedmont, CA. That is the same school at Tonio Celloto. He is not listed on the Scout or Rivals databases, for what reason, I don't know. But I know him and his older brother (old baseball teammates in high school). I haven't been able to contact him, but according to his older brother, he got a full ride and accepted. He is a 2009 commit. He is 6'5 215, plays WR/LB. Piedmont High is the school that has been made famous for creating the A-11 offense.

His brother claimed he committed and got a full ride earlier this evening. I don't know his 40 time. Like I said, he isn't listed on either recruiting site and I can't find his stats. I don't even know how good he is, lol. I just know him because he goes to my high school alma mater.

Hmmm... Out of the blue commit and with nothing to back it up other than the player's older brother? I think that that is what is meant by "doubtful". Too weird... :?

Not buying it. GS maybe? Or a preferred walk-on. But he is a plan Z recruit. We aren't there yet.

Kingofducks usually has pretty top notch info, and doesn't usually post it unless he's pretty certain.
Kid plays WR and from what I am hearing we may be in a bit of trouble there, so CK is probably getting some bodies.
By bit of trouble I mean
Gaines- who knows, I'm sure Oklahoma is putting the full court press on him now...
Johnson- going to UW likely
Wheaton-pissed that Pflu is gone and on the fence with us now
Hall- kind of a longshot
Patterson-real longshot
Jackson-assuming he stays with us, we need more than 2 WR's.

There is a reason Gray and Pflu are gone. Look at the scramble at DT and WR taking place right now.

What do you mean there's a reason they're gone?
In Helfrich, Frost, and Allioti we trust

There would be no reason to take a commit from a player of this caliber right now while out recruiting other much more talented players that are undecided at WR. You could wait another week or two easily after striking out on everyone else. If James Johnson left with a conditional offer, then there would be no way this kid would get a full offer.

Interesting that Arden is listed as DL in the all-Bay Area post...

According to Maxpreps, # 85 Arden played TE, LB, and DE, and had 31 tackles for the season... 3.9/game.

Like I said I dont know the first thing about this:
but KINGOFDUCKS does not post often and usually when he does it's pretty certain info.
I don't know why or if it's completely true or not, however he usually is pretty $$$.
Guess we'll see......

Seems strange, but certainly not outside the realm of possibility. Players such as Igor were pretty much unknowns as well, and he turned out ok.

We have no idea what position this player is being looked at either. Perhaps the coaches view him as a player they can bulk up over the course of a couple years and play at defensive end. It will be interesting to see if anything comes of this.

The coaches aren't going to throw offers around just to fill scholi's. This recruit is not a WR at Oregon.
