It's amazing what Willie and the staff have already done in terms of enthusiasm and recruiting. Night and Day

100%. I'm still waiting to see how we perform this fall before I'm fully bought in on Taggart, but early indicators look really good.

It now seems like the thinking behind hiring Helfrich was faulty to begin with; keeping the Kelly train rolling. That plan missed what was the important feature of Kelly's era, and that was innovation. Helfrich was completely overwhelmed, and it now appears that the beloved former coaches, were not willing or able to work at the level of intensity that Taggart's team is now.

After watching the spring game, it became apparent how much the players take on the personality of their coach. With Chip it was a good thing, the team had some swagger to it but they completely lost that under Helfrich. It is a completely different team out there now and it is good to see the enthusiasm from Taggart influencing the players.

My source just said Chip is officially back!
It will be announced at Autzen press conference tomorrow afternoon!

It's kind of scary to think that the staff has to have this thing ready to roll with only something like 15 fall official practices. I'm prepared to be patient.

It really is apparent so far. Kelly's teams were scrappy, mean, and aggressive. Helf's teams became soft, detached, and mechanical. Taggart is already getting them back into the mold of Kelly's teams, attitude-wise. The Pac-12 is a much different place now than 2009-12 so I'm sure they'll won't be steamrolling through the conference like Kelly did.

Yeah, I'm not expecting to steamroll the Pac 12 ever again. That was a pretty special time in the program's history and I'm glad I was able to witness it. I will just be happy with a team that is competitive and well coached.

I'd be happy with staying around the top of the division and competing for the conference title every couple of years.

Which seems like a very reasonable expectation given the staff, talent and resources of the program.

Yeah, so I had no idea how broken things must have been under Helfrich... this is crazy. I know Taggart seems to have a magnetic personality, but still... you have a relatively little-known HC coming in here and lighting up the recruiting rankings. Either Taggart is THAT GOOD of a recruiter, or Oregon really is a HUGE destination for players. Or maybe both. Either way, I'm cringing now over how many players we must have lost out on over the past few years.

Still need to see how we do on Saturdays, but I'm optimistic that we'll love the results.
Willie Taggart is a dick.

I felt the same as you until the TCU bowl meltdown.

After that, I knew things were completely sideways.

I can understand why some gave Helfrich the benefit of the doubt even after all the awful losses.

Even those of us that saw the writing on the wall were clueless as to the true state of the program.

Now it's very clear that Helfrich/Pellum/Hoke were completely clueless as recruiters and coaches. Hindsight 20/20[THUMBS UP SIGN]

I've wondered for years how we would do recruiting with a real salesman in charge. The whole Eugene is remote vs facilities and swag thing. It would appear that being a closer matters.

Fire up the coffee pot for this staff. They've earned it.

That's true, but we always heard excuses for Helf when it came to recruiting.

There still a long road ahead, and Taggart has a lot to prove, but you can't ask for a better recruiting weekend

If he can win and the defense learns how to tackle.... this could be a pretty good team in couple of years... I want us to get back to winning 10 games every year... Sure it is hard but if Taggart can win games and now getting some of the talent recruiting wise then it is possible. Not next year... maybe not the year after... but if can improve on defense this could happen.
