I applaud any kid these days that makes a choice with thier parents in mind. So many kids decide to go against them, it says alot about thier upbringing!

I am from N. Cal and grew up watching the Ducks and Sooners. I went to school at Oklahoma but have always been and always will be a Duck! If Oregon had a strong debate team, its highly possible I would have went to UO instead. Sometimes you go where the power is and what gives you the most competition. In NCAA debate, the power is all in the mid-west. Having the chance to take on the 5 time defending NCAA debate champs every weekend was something I could not pass up. I am sure some of these kids are thinking the same thing.

Not anymore. Oregon are national champs in parliamentary debate.

Actually, Oregon in general has really improved as a forensics state. Little Willamette HS in Eugene actually fielded the first ever national champions in Public-Forum style debate (then known as Ted Turner Debate).

There are three styles in the NCAA, or more appropriatley the NFL. Parlimentary (the weakest style), LD, aka Lincoln Douglas, and the least known is doubles team debate (speed kills). I will not go into the details as it will bore most of the participants of this board. The reality is, when I was in college in 92, ALL the power was in the Mid West and only 2 schools on the west coast had any real chance. UoP and Lewis and Clark. Stanford was a close third but they got thier ass's handed to them by the mid west schools. So these days, I could care less, my point was, when your being recruited for a division 1 schollie, its all about the competition and who gives you the best shot of advancing in that field.

You still went to Oklahoma...I'm sorry.
I don't think I'll ever forget how that school reacted after the game in 2006.
It's not a knock or diss on you, personally, I just loathe OU.

Thanks man. Some posters on educk were throwing around the nickname "Death Rowe" & I had the perfect pic already so I figured I'd throw the nickname on there.
