Defensive Line Recruiting

Post by GrantDuck »

Noticed that despite our early and awesome success at other spots, we have no commits here at what is largely considered the most important CFB recruiting position.

Which highly rated guys are we in on/have a good shot with?

First of all, Jonathan King will play DE (Maybe OLB) and Mohamed Diallo is a DT.

Guys to watch are Randy Charlton, and Greg Emerson.

But it is a fair point that there aren't a lot of DL visiting or being talked about now.

We have A LOT of DL on the roster already. It's developing them that's been the issue...

Plus the freshman Failou and maybe Popo. Oh and Pagano but he'll be gone after this year.

That is why leavitt was brought in. He has proven he can develope players on the defensive side of the ball.

Plus Salave'a has some connections and has proven he can get players to play above their recruiting ratings.

Both the Colorado and WSU fan bases contended that Leavitt and Salave'a were much better coaches than recruiters. Hopefully Willie, Woodie and Heyward can help a brother out in the recruiting game for DL and ILB. Heck this year Tosh has been the lead recruiter for about 1/2 the 5 stars at Alabama regardless of position.

They also didn't offer many DT's so there is that, but they did put out quite a few DE offers with not a lot of results thus far.

On a positive note Joe offered a DE in the Islands tonight who sounds absolutely ecstatic.
