We still need some studs on the defensive line and linebacker... those were the two glaring weaknesses on our defense... those need to be addressed. CBs are great... but if we can not stop the run... will not matter how great the cb's are.

Maybe, he said hopefully, they are satisfied with the D line and linebackers they have in the freshmen and sophomore classes or at least they don't see any recruits they believe are better that they have a chance at getting here?

Ugggggg if they are satisfied then our d line will not be getting any studs. The d line been an issue for awhile. I was hoping the coaches would see it as a major priority.

How long has our DL been a problem? I recall 3 current NFL players (2 starters) being on the DL 3 years ago.

3 is not exactly a lot.. If you want to be a good defense it starts at the line. I would venture to say the teams that have won the national championship last 5 or 10 years have more than 3 defensive lineman playing at the pro level. I might be surprised. Even if I am....wrong... who on our defensive line right now is pro caliber... None of them exactly strike fear in another teams qb. I do not think any offensive line coach or offensive coordinator thinks.. we have to stop this guy... when talking about Oregon's defensive line.

If you really have to ask how many DLers are in the nfl from Oregon in the last 10 years and can't get to 5 I can't help you understand why a wait and see approach under Coach Joe is the way to take this. Further it's not like NSD is next month, let the season play out, coaches get fired/promoted etc.

Isaiah Bolden continues hinting at a silent commit as it's widely expected they're taking a full 25-player class but there's only 15 known commitments.

At the same time? It's the maximum number possible. lol And that 2/3 were 1st round draft picks is incredible.

It is incredible, but I don't think he was talking about at the same time, since the time period he mentioned was 'the last 5 or 10 years'. Also, it isn't the max possible even for one year, since back-ups are also eligible for the NFL. Alabama sent five to the NFL from the 2012 Defensive line, for instance, even though they run a 3-4.

Balducci doesn't count because he's in the NFL as an offensive lineman, right? Buckner and Armstead are great but they both were in the same recruiting year and since then nada. And before that nada. So we have 2 great defensive lineman in the past 10 years. The drop-off after those two is pretty incredible. Like unfathomable our miss ratio. So no, it's not exactly a lot. More like a one year recruiting outlier. And to say Armstead had a terrific college career would be generous.

The basic point is spot on.

Kind of. We did get Canton Kamatule and Rex and Drayton. All were highly recruited, but have not produced. We also switched defenses and lost some recruits in the process and had transfers.
