Does UO have a Phys Ed requirement?

I know UNC does...kids have to take 2 classes or so.

Maybe this is where the credits don't transfer?

Oregon is not known as a great school to go to for academics. From what I hear Oregon's standards are the NCAA minimum, but if that is the case why is it these players are able to get into other schools, but are unable to get into Oregon. If their standards are not the minimum, why? Who do they think they are Stanford. If Oregon is going to have more strict requirements then they need to stop going after JUCO guys. Oregon doesn't even have a high graduation rate for it's football players, so you would think they would have the lowest standards possible. I am all about getting an education but most of these guys never even use their degree if they do graduate.

Apparently Leon/Crim/Gaines/Evans may all fall casualty to whatever our new academic policies are becoming.
Crim was all Oregon and it looks like he won't be admitted either.

Agreed, this is terrible news. This could scare off future JC players as well. I think this sucks that Oregon won't be getting Anthony Leon, who could have replaced Patrick Chung, or Gaines, or Crim. But Leon would have been a huge get.

That's fantastic, I sure hope that if Oregon is going to lose out on good football players because of tougher academic standards, they start producing Nobel Prize winners like Stanford. I wonder who decided to make the change, probably some guy that got beat up by the football team in high school.

If the Ducks lose Leon and don't get any of the other JUCO guys because of academic standards and don't get Boyd and Brown this class will really turn out to be a bust. With Phillipp committing to the Beavers, they might end up with a better class.

Yeah, recruiting is so up and down. Right now, not looking too good.

Ya, seriously not getting Boyd and Brown would just be a total bust in this case, NOT! Although losing Byrd is a pretty big loss IMO, it gives Glasper a chance to play, because he will be a senior next year and he was a pretty big recruit back in the day. But the future is looking extremely bright, and these next 3-4 years should see the Ducks in the Rose Bowl and/or NC. If the Ducks don't get Boyd, then so what? That paves the way for Darron Thomas to start 2011 and 2012. I can think of worse QB's to have, I mean he was once committed to LSU at one point, he's a total stud and should be the next Dixon. And now with Ethan Grant, Florida seems like a viable option to snag 3-4 recruits per year from now on. So to summarize, though right now things aren't looking so good, in reality the cards are in place for a NC run regardless of whether Boyd ends up committing or not. This is really a positive time for Oregon football IMO. Yes, the Ducks are losing out on a ton of good recruits now, but think of all the good ones already on the team that will get their chance to play now instead. Plus, USC will not be as good next year, beating them at home is very realistic, and it will be on national TV. Then the recruits will start to take notice, if they haven't already.

ghetarr, unfortunatly when we beat SC, the media will hype it as SC is down & the Pac 10 is no good (again). We need to beat SC with both teams in the top 10 to get any credit, then OK & others will still claim we cheated or blame the Pac 10 officials. Not trying to be negative, we just need to win it all next year to get any respect from the BCS or the media.

IMO, losing someone like Leon would be just as big as getting someone like Boyd. I know offensive recruits are more exciting, but defense has been our weakness.

While it is dissapointing to lose a player like him, it's nothing to cry about. He would've had only 2 years to play & who know if he would've made any impact. We have plenty of guys who are waiting in the wings, losing him doesn't make that much of an impact on next season, IMO.
