Norvell seems to be the hot name.snapt wrote:Seeing Chip, Frost, and Dan Mullens mentioned most often.
And I doubt we steal any of their recruits unless we lose someone, we are just about full.

Just got an alert that Florida boosters are hot on taggarts trail and they've contacted him. He'll surely deny it

Re: McElwain fired. Who can we take?
About the only argument I could make for him to stay is that he would have better job security here while making a similar amount of money. It could also make the goal of winning a N.C. slightly easier to do here because he's shown he can recruit to Eugene. (not that it's close to what recruiting to Gainesville would be for him though)

These reports are freaking "fan fiction" most of the time. The idiocy that comes out of the SEC fan bases is limitless.maxduck wrote:Report: Oregon coach Willie Taggart has been contacted about Florida opening, ‘real possibility’

I think of all the coaches mentioned, Frost is the most likely by far. Mullen perhaps, but why would he leave his current job to then stay in the SEC and go where there's a ton of pressure to win. I don't see anyone else going to UF.

I wonder if Frost would pass on Florida waiting to see if Nebraska fires Riley?
Frost would be a good choice tho for Florida....

Shouldn't the headline read " McElwain fired, who can they take?" Answer: coach T!

Re: McElwain fired. Who can we take?
I don't think he is crazy so dunno why he'd choose Nebraska. There's the same amount of pressure and expectations there as at UF. And, they have a history of treating their coaches badly. He doesn't like challenges in recruiting as evidenced by his Oregon comments in the past. I think he'd have to be both insane and dumb to take that job.duckfan22 wrote:I wonder if Frost would pass on Florida waiting to see if Nebraska fires Riley?

Re: McElwain fired. Who can we take?
If coach Taggart left Oregon for Florida I'd like to see Scott Frost come back to the Ducks. I think Frost is a rising star and he'd have a lot less pressure at Oregon than he would at Florida, and a lot more assets to work with as far as facilities, etc. I think he and his staff would be recruiting machines!!!
If it were my choice, I think I'd rather take on the USC, UW, Stanford, etc challenge every year than to try to be the guy to unseat Nick Saban in the SEC, or try to be the guy to rebuild Nebraska in a conference with Ohio State, Michigan, Wisconsin, Penn State, etc.

Re: McElwain fired. Who can we take?
Frost was on record saying that it’s not possible to recruit at or to Oregon. You really want someone like that running this program as a HC? While we may not have a choice if Taggart were to jump ship, although he’d get a bad name for himself if he left after less than a year, I would definitely not want Frost anywhere near this program outside of maybe an analyst position. Even then, give me the mastermind (or one of them) of Chip Kelly’s prolific Oregon run, Mark Helfrich if we are wanting an analyst.SuperDuck wrote:If coach Taggart left Oregon for Florida I'd like to see Scott Frost come back to the Ducks. No freaking way on Frost. I think he is going to get exposed when he takes a bigger job.SuperDuck wrote:If coach Taggart left Oregon for Florida I'd like to see Scott Frost come back to the Ducks.
