I've watched a couple of DTR games this year, I don't see a PAC 12 starter. The kid is athletic but not a QB.

If I'm not mistaken Martinez came to Eugene on an unofficial visit, he thought he was getting an offer. That weekend Colson Yankoff committed and Martinez had his feelings hurt that he was misled into coming to Eugene when Yost/Helfrich already had a QB locked up. Of course we have a new regime, but that soured any chance for Martinez.

I think if we do take a second QB it would be someone lower rated, like the other Tennessee commit that Willie knows: Mike Penix Jr. It would also be interesting to see if the staff makes a run at Matt Corral, with Florida being coach-less and him being the teammate of Jalen Hall.

We also had a VaTech QB commit come visit a month or two ago

If you are talking about Quincy Patterson, he never visited, unless it happened in secret and none of the message boards knows about it. He was talking about coming for a visit...maybe. Then that talk dried up.

You're probably right. I saw a headline sometime during the season saying he was coming but I follow recruiting loosely so never saw any follow up.

It was Martinez. He came to visit right before Yankoff committed, and didn't get an offer because the staff already knew Yankoff was committing. Heard it from Martinez himself.

Huh. That's interesting. The same exact thing happened with DTR. Or something very similar.

Edit: I found an Oregonlive article about Martinez's visited. Apparently Martinez always wanted to play for Oregon, Cal, or UCLA. In the article, he says the coaches really kept emphasizing grades to him, and he felt the coaches were being honest with him. And the article mentions DTR coming in to visit Oregon very soon after. Yankoff ended up committing right before DTR's trip. DTR was pissed and cancelled. Apparently Martinez wasn't too happy either.

Well if both coaches were fired despite debate here. Let's see how recruiting goes once the regular season is over and see if we will get another QB this cycle. As there is nothing for sure in 2019 or 2020 yet.

A lot of people are shocked with the firing of Jim Mora, personally I am as well. I don’t think it will disrupt UCLA’s recruiting class. UCLA just recruits itself in all aspects. It’s got academics, nice weather, a sprawling city. Albeit I’ve never been to the PNW let alone to UCLA but that’s what talk around town is about their recruiting pitch.

I don’t think we take another QB either, there’s too many players left on the board that are more vital. We take one this year and another next year.

I think they fired Mora knowing that they can likely keep most of their class together because of UCLA's positive attributes and in spite of getting a new coach.

UCLA just cut ties with Mora because they knew he was going to get an NFL job ........... (joke)

I would take Martinez, but it's really difficult to say because there's no senior film on him due to an injury before the year.
