Re: Ring ring ring
Lamar has impressed me the last few weeks, nice to add another front seven guy to the group we already got.

Plus we don't want to have another Colin Schooler situation, lolPhenom wrote:I agree. I like him and I've heard that he had a great senior campaign. People hate on a lot of Central Catholic kids for some reason. They were saying the same things about Lamar.Kyle's Brother wrote:I know a lot of people aren't super high on Winston, but I really like him. I'd be really happy with him in this class.

Haven’t most scouts said Eli’jah plays quite well? I thought the major concern were his grades or something along those lines earlier in the year? His recruitment has been pretty confusing to say the least. His brother seems to love playing for the Ducks and he said his younger bro is by far the better of the two, so I’m so confused as to what has taken so long.Duck07 wrote:Plus we don't want to have another Colin Schooler situation, lolPhenom wrote:I agree. I have no idea why there was so much negativity from certain quarters about La'Mar, other than him being a Central Catholic kid. People called him soft, and here he is as a true sophomore starting at LB for us and drawing praise from the coaches. He's been playing really well the last few games, he has the athleticism to seal the edge and to get out in coverage. Great kid, too.Phenom wrote:I agree. Eli'Jah looked older than La'Mar does now from the time he was a high school sophomore. I've seen him play, he didn't look dominant but it's clear that he's a Pac-12 level player. He can be an edge rusher or now that we can develop LBs he can play there as well. He's got to be around 230LBs and he was playing safety and corner at times. Recruits like that don't grow on trees.

Big area of need, near ideal body type, legacy, local, huge number of spots being taken in this class. I can't understand not going after him hard (and they might be). All players have bust risks, but when you have one check so many boxes I'd sure take a chance on him.GoDucksTroll wrote:I have no idea why there was so much negativity from certain quarters about La'Mar, other than him being a Central Catholic kid. The way Lamar is playing, definitely would love to add Eli'jah.greenyellow wrote:Oregon needs a final DE/LB in this class so it'd make sense, considering we haven't seen any other prospects at that position really being recruited hard by them.buckmarkduck wrote:Sounds like Winston.

Completely agree. It was weird to read how local "recruiting experts" were so critical of La'Mar. He was accused of being lazy and having a poor work ethic. La'Mar always came off as being a great kid, was a good student and a very good athlete. Just a bit raw as a football player.GoDucksTroll wrote:I have no idea why there was so much negativity from certain quarters about La'Mar, other than him being a Central Catholic kid. Apparently, Eli'Jah is more polished than La'Mar was in high school. Very excited about this addition.

It's a little concerning to me that Hall, Hufanga, Cota, Williams, Waddle, and Sewell have jumped on board. We must be down to 5 spots left. Are none of them worried about being left out. Or are they long shots in the first place. Or has Willie told them we will hold spots no matter what? I would love to be a fly on the wall when Willie T talks to these guys!

It has to be the Central Catholic thing. Because Central and Jesuit "steal" players from other high school programs. Although I've never once heard those same people say anything bad about fellow Ram Brady Breeze. And Breeze, unlike the Winstons, isn't even from Portland.Completely agree. They would say Breeze was extremely overrated and if not for his family, he would have never received an offer.GoDucksTroll wrote:It has to be the Central Catholic thing. Ok. I just have to make an observation that has nothing to do with the Winston's per se, but just because one brother is worth a scholarship does not mean the other brother is worth one. I see people saying, "well, I like his brother, so I'm all for bringing in the other brother."
I want the best players willing to quack at every position. Don't care who your brother is. You ain't your brother.

They held back an offer until they saw growth this year. (and they saw massive growth). He is a player that will red shirt likely and be a beast in years 3-4.
