QUACK! DL Andrew Faoliu commits
In a somewhat surprising move, DL Andrew Faoliu has signed early, after previously stating he was going to wait until the Polynesian Bowl in January to announce his commitment. He's not quite as big as his brother Austin but he's definitely a DE that could help down the line.

I'm excited about this one. Austin is one of my favorite players on the defensive side, and he had a similar rating if I'm not mistaken. He hits people like he's mad at them. I love it. Already looks like a grown man as a freshman, too. If Andrew is anything like Austin we might have just stolen a great player here.

Comparing Andrew to Austin is probably a really bad comparison. Andrew is considerably smaller, plays a different position, and has different strengths. I think the hope here is that he can turn into a Utah-type DE - not terribly explosive, but relentless and knows his role inside and out.

STU-- what do you think about the DT that they signed? Sione Vea Kava-- Any thoughts here? Pad level seems high and not very explosive on his film. (but what do I know).

I'll take someone that hits people like he's mad at them at any position. Obviously they aren't too similar physically. That kind of mentality isn't something that scouts give star ratings for. It's why a kid like Colin Schooler goes mostly unrecruited. If Andrew has the same mentality that Austin has, he's a steal.StevensTechU wrote:Comparing Andrew to Austin is probably a really bad comparison. Never understood why Oregon never offered the other Schooler.Kyle's Brother wrote:I'll take someone that hits people like he's mad at them at any position.
