National Champions

Post by jasnwip »

I believe that if we can some how get Brown, Boyd, Diante, Gaines, Wheaton, and a couple of the JC guys to qualify that we will be National Champions in the next four years. I feel that our program has gotten to the point that we are a few great players from doing something that wasn't possible 15 years ago. With our offense able to put up numbers like we have the last two years we are really in a position where a couple of games a year are the difference of playing for the National Title. Think about if we had recovered the onside kick against Boise State, hadn't fell apart at the end of the second quarter against SC and if the weather was a little better at Cal. Now I am not stupid and I understand that things are going to happen but if you look at the last two years we are a few breaks away from very big things. We need to finish off our recruiting season strong and I believe that it will get easier and easier for us under Kelly. I can't believe we are even at the point the Pac 10 titles and possible NC's can even be discussed but I believe we are.

I like the optimism and I agree that a National Championship is within reach. It is something that i want to see in my lifetime and i think the time is now.

Like I've written before in my posts, I think that it's inevitable that within either 3 or 4 years Oregon makes a legit NC run. Could even be next year. I also don't think Boyd or Brown are necessary as long as some JC recruits on D play like they are capable of. Ethan Grant will be the greatest weapon in CK's arsenal he's had to this point, so 2010 and 2011 could be special too, 2011 because of Darron Thomas.

come on guys.........I know that I am going to get ridiculed for my post but I really believe that we are very close to really big things. We are now a destination. Call it Nike, our offense, the uni's, whatever you want but who wouldn't want a chance to play for us. We must get ourselves in a few more BCS bowl games but I know that we are on big time recruits radar like never before. Our defense worries me (mostly our D Cord) but I don't think Kelly will stand for mediocrity anymore and we will start to turn that corner this coming year.

I think the goal is now to be in regular contention for a BCS Bowl... NC or otherwise.

IMO, the Ducks are on the verge of greatness... Just a few key parts to assemble.
Autzen Stadium... Where great teams go to die...Hard!

Yea, USC still find a way to be on Top, So it will be tough for us to unseat USC. IMO winner of usc vs Oregon could lead to rose bowl or one of bcs bowl, possible NC if undefeated.

Byrd leaving and Crim/Leon not getting in are going to be tough to overcome that, couple that with our defensive line being less than questionable. Too many holes on D for us to be that elite. Maybe in 2-3 years if we get some DB and D-line big dogs.
Offensively you can line me up out there and CK will still figure out a way to get it done.
