If we basically traded Crocker for Battle, I'm disappointed. Battle is a much better prospect. We better get two of Devon Williams, Ezeike and Harrison or I'll be severely disappointed in the staff.
They've been on these guys non-stop and the same coaches (Arroyo, Heyward, Cristobal and Johnson) have been recruiting them the entire time but for whatever reasons, recruits are not feeling Oregon as much as they once did. Oregon is also losing out on some of these battles due to distance and outside influences they can't control. Not sure what else the staff could have done.

I understand that they're exerting effort, not like two years ago when commits weren't even being contacted on a regular basis.

I just wonder what changed between now and November, other than Willie. Was he really responsible for all of these commits? I understand guys like Warren Thompson, Isaiah Bolden. But other than that we still have virtually the same staff and it's still the same football program.

The Vegas Bowl certainly didn't help, but there's got to be more to it than that. Battle's mom was okay with him going to Oregon up until December and then changed her mind? Seems unlikely.

Getting Hall and Crocker is nice, but considering the talent that has defected from the class is disheartening. One of the touted benefits of keeping Cristobal was re-building this recruiting class, and that hasn't gone according to plan. Maybe I'm just panicking because a part of me is concerned that Mullens made a rash decision.

I dont think your in panic mode. Were asking 17-18 year olds to make a tough decision.
Its a decision that most likely will impact their life for many years afterwards. Coaches tell them one
thing then another coach comes along with something new. Add in mom and dad or high school coaches
and its so stressful for them. I really think Oregon has a really good staff. the 2019 recruiting may be
the tell all tho. And dont forget Oregon has a chance to close well and they are in the top 15 right now.

At this point, you'd have to ask the recruit and their families what's changed.

We're likely getting Sewell and Williams. Maybe another high star guy on DL

IMO Cristobal has done a great job and this will be a great class with those additions

So according to 247, we have the 14th rated recruiting class in the country after losing our head coach and looking like crap in our bowl game...yet this is a failure? I remember when people would kill to have a top 20 class.

I think the class overall is better than you are giving them credit for, but I am still concerned that Mullens made a rash decision. Particularly on offense, I am very concerned that some coaches have been promoted above their abilities.

I think there are some reasons for concern on the offensive coaching staff, but now we just got to give them a chance and see what they can do. They put up points, yards, and have an exciting scheme, and the players will come next year. Not sure why we can't get these WR back in the boat, or at least a couple. Willie must have been blowing some serious WR smoke. But if you watch USF film, their WR did get to do some interesting things and had a lot of big plays. Our offensive staff really doesn't have any film to show kids.

PS. Unpopular take warning: Maybe Hall and Crocker are every bit as advertised, but they were at the bottom of my WR want list.

They're some of our highest rated WRs we've ever gotten.

People should realize that even if they only get 3-4 WRs this class, the 2019 class is just as loaded and Oregon has already been offering many of the West Coast and TX ones.

Hall and crocker have upside but they're probably not immediate impact guys

Both guys need a couple years

I know they have high rankings. And those rankings could be warranted. I admit I could be totally wrong on both of them. WR is a tough position for me to evaluate unless a player is just so obviously bigger, faster, stronger than everybody. I just like every other WR we were in on better. We were in on some really good players this year. I like both Battle and Ezeike better. I like Waddle and Harrison better. I liked Cota better. Williams I like better. Those are some heavy hitters.
