2020 Oregon WR commit Moorer decommits

Post by greenyellow »

Oregon no longer has any 2020 commits as WR Donnovon Moorer has decommitted. Figured he would since he was always more of a Taggart guy and it was such a long time before he could would actually sign.

"Schools of all levels" is a funny tag.

Yeah, not surprising. Best of luck to him.

Makes sense. No early commits have stuck in the last few years. Getting less and less excited about them.

Completely agree. Even one year out, and I shrug my shoulders.

I like early commits, even if they don't stick it's nice to have a hash mark in the column.

But Moorer was never coming, and this is a legitimate case of WDWHA. There's a reason he's a two-star, and I don't know why Willie is so enamored with him. Moorer is going to FSU's SNL event this weekend, and if they let him then he'll commit. Why they want a 5'8" 150lbs two-star WR, I have no clue.

As for our 2021 commit, Seven McGree, he is a different case. Plays at the same high school with other Oregon guys, and there's a reason that USC and Nebraska offered. The kid rushed for 1200 yards as a freshman, already looks like a grown man, and is bigger than Travis Dye was his senior year. If he continues to develop he's a top-100 player and well have to fend off other suitors, I'm not holding my breath for a kid that can't sign for another few years but it's a bonus to know our name and brand still has some pull with younger recruits.

It is nice to me, because it's a reflection of how good Oregon's recruiting is. If you are landing 4/5 star recruits 1-2 years before signing day, it's obvious you are a big time player in the recruiting world.

But to get excited about the actual individual recruit is a waste of time.
