any one of those 3 lists could be true. who knows.MacDuck wrote:Yep, pretty clear that the sister storyline is BS. The kid wanted to be a Duck bad and then he meets the coaches and his tune changes dramatically. Seems like it's one of three possibilities:
1. he has academic issues and they told him his offer wasn't 100% until he clears some stuff up,
2. they really think their chances are very good at someone they like better. Lattimore would fit the bill more than Seastrunk. If they're willing to cut loose a player as good as DW, then they must be pretty confident. Would also strongly imply they don't want 3 backs in this class. Grant & someone else would be it.
3. Campbell and Kelly may have simply changed their opinion of Williams and don't feel he's a good fit. This scenario seems unlikely, but can't rule it out entirely.

well if there is other rb that want to commit with Ducks but wouldnt commit if D.Williams commit, im sure coaches will hold D.Williams back for that.Biggus Duckus wrote:I hope it's the coaches telling him he has grade issues that he needs to clear up first. I REALLY don't want our coaches being like "nah we think we've found someone better instead," especially to someone who pulls the trigger early in the process.

Since someone mentioned the other day that he had like a 2.2 gpa, I'm guessing it's that.

Only makes sense because he was telling everyone he had committed after the game, but when he got home after he talked to coaches, he was no longer committed?
then why still the official visit?

Here's one scenario...
Perhaps he went on the visit with the intentions of committing, then he had a great time and told everyone he was a duck. Coaches either get turned off by grades or get good news from another RB? They tell Williams that the offer is on hold or completely off the table?

WAY too much speculation in this thread. Don't call a kid a jerk when you have no idea what you're talking about.

I didn't say he was a jerk, I said he sounded like a jerk in that back and forth conversation he had that TK posted. calm down.

My take on this is it's got to be something about the grades or maybe some type of trouble.
I would bet that even if they got Lattimore they would still take Williams. They want as many good RB's as they can get for this offense. How could you turn down a 4 star RB.
Something else is going on.

Re: D.WIlliams update
yeah i agree i doubt they would let him travel all the way out here for a visit just to tell him they were yanking his schollie. I believe Jhop told us that they decided to pull munchies offer and thats why he didnt come out so i dont think that is the case here. the one thing i dont like is that we only really have two guys left on the board in seastrunk and lattimore and even though they say they're coming out to visit how many times have we been down this road before with the five star. i mean if usc can have five 5 stars without problems then whats the problem here. i just dont want to be s*** out of luck for this guy in two months because we were hoping for someone better. i dont know the situation or if he has bad grades but it seems kinda weird. Also, in his last rivals article he stated that he wasnt going to commit for awhile and was going to take some more visits. He was also waiting to hopefully hear back from cal and usc but i dont think they have any interest cause he said he hadn't heard from them in a month or so.

UO is always going to be a hard sell for 5 star recruits vs. SC. Academics, Big City life, Diversity, better weather. Those are big factors.
remember when the Ducks won the Fiesta Bowl and #2 in Nation? they ended up with the #31 class that yr. Although they did pull in Nagta.

Maybe Lache and Latt both silent committed to Oregon.

Man this sucks. I was really wanting this kid to be a Duck, I feel bad for him too. Whatever it is, hopefully it's cleared up soon & he still wants to be a Duck.

Re: D.WIlliams update
I'm wondering if he is now the fallback guy if either Lattimore or Seastrunk don't commit. That would suck for him since he now has to worry about not being able to go to Oregon and having to go to his second choice of schools or he waits too long and loses opportunities at other schools once they fill up and is left with a lot fewer choices. He the type of player that Oregon would never turn down in the past but is now being told to hold up on his commit. The coaches must feel really good about getting Seastrunk or Lattimore to hold up Williams commitment.
