It seems there is a theme brewing. The Ducks could very well start the 2009 season in the top 10 (or just outside).

CBS Sportsline ranks the Ducks at #6

6. Oregon: By the time you read this, coach-in-waiting Chip Kelly might not be waiting anymore. Even if Mike Bellotti decides to stay on, have you seen the schedule? The Ducks might end USC's death grip on the Pac-10. Issue: Transition from Bellotti to Kelly. But so far things are going smoothly.

Sports Illustrated has the Ducks at #9
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/w ... f=si_ncaaf

9. Oregon (10-3)
Who's back: QB Jeremiah Masoli, RB LeGarrette Blount, TE Ed Dickson, CBs Jairus Byrd and Walter Thurmond.
Who's not: RB Jeremiah Johnson, WR Jaison Williams, OL Max Unger, DE Nick Reed, S Patrick Chung.
Skinny: Masoli and Blount should lead another explosive offense, though the Ducks will need to rebuild their O-line. The defense has several key holes to fill.

I believe Byrd missed the Sunday deadline to withdraw. No Byrd next year. TJ & Walter, yes!
