I hate to be the bearer of more bad - Espn G. Biggens (sp?)

"I did talk with Boyd, the story is up now. He said everyone is even but just from the way he was talking, it kind of sounds like Ohio State may have crept up to the top. He has home visits all week and will probably decide next week."

Bad news. Trying to think of a way to dis-credit this, and spin this our way...but not really working. Some quotes would be nice, but i guess we have to take his word for it. Lets hope he chooses right

I am not excited about having the first in home visit. I wish we were the last word he got to hear. How disappointing if we lose him at the last minute.

It sure feels like the dominos are standing in line, but keep falling the wrong way lately for us. I am one who never believed we would get a ton more great players this year because we did not get the national love this past season. It sure feels as though we are just barely missing out of too many. My hope is that we have a banner 2009 season with 6 games on ESPN. 2010 might be a magic recruiting year. If we can just land a top reciever and DT, I will be happy. I know we have more needs, but I think we could get by very well with that. A top notch safety would be next on my wish list. The tall JC kid, plus Dickson, plus NaDarris, plus Holland, plus Mahel, Cantu...etc (I am sure I just butchered the spelling on all of them) should be enough to do the trick for now with Blount, Harper, LaMichael & co. coming out of the backfield. I really like the linemen we have gathered over the last few years and have so much confidence in the o-line coaching that I am confident our needs will be met on that front. Great new LB's will help allow our safties to shore our coners...etc

Just need a little more love this recruiting season and all is well. Not perfect, but well.

Next year we will need to start looking for another good QB to bring in as well. I like the way that things are looking for next years class. This year isn't horrible but it is pretty painful to come so close on so many guys only to whif on most of them. It isn't over yet, but things are looking a bit bleak.

True, I but I really like the kids we have gotten so far. I took a few moments to read about each of them on Rival's and it cleared my mind a bit. There are some real play makers already on board. I am still hoping for Diante and Hall. Brown and Boyd seem a bit to star studded to grab this year. I hope I am wrong though as I would LOVE to have them.

Now 2010 might be a different story after we take care of business in the Pac-10 in 09.

I'm really not up on DT. I really hope he can work on his passing game and prove me wrong, but I'm not hopeful. He'll at least need some competition after Masoli's gone.

But Biggins has been wrong before, and he's not even making a prediction. He's just saying he has a hunch that Boyd is a lean towards tOSU. That's barely newsworthy. Don't fret about this too much

Agreed ARGHimaPirate - I personally think DT is the real deal. If we can get him to red shirt next year, he very well could be the future when coupled with a banner 2010 class.

Certainly Biggens was offering only a hunch, but he did talk to the kid. And no, I won't lose too much sleep over it. He was very wrong on Phillips..etc. Just hope is wrong one more time.

Darron Thomas was a highly recruited kid coming out of HS. The limited chance he had to play this year he suceeded, with the odds against him trying to come from behind throwing the ball as a true freshmen. Darron Thomas is the future of this program beyond Masoli. Getting Boyd would be great, but it isnt going to make or break out program. You guys cant always look beyond the kids that ARE ducks, and are the building blocks of our program. If recruits won national championships why isnt Notre Dame winning? Why did Alabama get beat by Utah?

This is why I expect the worst and hope for the best, everyone on here has been saying Boyd is ours for weeks now, but I never bought it... If we lose out on him, like I suspect we will, I feel sorry for those that took the colorful, sparkly PowerBait and ran with it. Cuz it's gonna hurt.

Well said, and as much as I hate to admit it, look at the rodents. They have D- recruiting grades, but still end up in the upper third of the Pac-10. I trust that our coaches can make anyone into a top NFL prospect.

I am as high on DT as anyone. I am just saying that if we whif on Boyd, we will need to find DT's successor next year if possible. I don't like having huge gaps in experience at QB.
