Agreed, we really need a solid DT from this class. I'd settle for the German Werner too..

This guy should be one of our top 5 targets, imo. He looks like the real deal and we definitely need to find an answer at the DT position for the future.

this would be a great pick up for the ducks...hmmm maybe another GREAT OREGON DT (Haloti Ngata) can call up this fellow polynesian kid and kinda give him a hint that the "O" is where he needs to be!

Yeah the need for a dominant DT became very clear against Stanford. I would like to get both Werner & Heimuli cuz Werner looks more like a project & we need help at DT RIGHT NOW.UOducksTK1 wrote:Agreed, we really need a solid DT from this class. I'd settle for the German Werner too..

I totally agree with you guys and as my father used to say when he was coaching, "You can NEVER have too many good linemen!!". This kid is a stud and IMO the DL, especially DT, is the most important position for this years recruiting class. Everything starts up front and as we saw against Stanford, if you don't have a strong interior presence on the DL you are going to struggle and it doesn't matter if you have 2 all-americans at LB, because if the DT's are not able to get pressure and keep the OL from getting to the 2nd level you are in trouble.
As for Werner I would love to get him also, because he reminds me a lot of Igor Olshansky. Both had a lot of raw ability coming out of HS and a huge amount of potential, which with the right coaching could turn them into an absolute beast. They are both strong physically, have a meanstreak and both were born in European countries (Germany, Ukraine). I also like the fact that Werner is around 270 lbs, because it gives us and him options as to where he plays on the DL. Now I know we are recruiting him as a DT and he could easily add 20-25lbs and become a monster for us in the middle, which he probably will, but from everything I have heard and read about him he also has the athleticism to play DE (Like Tukuafu) if necessary. Not saying that it is going to or should happen, but I am saying that it's ALWAYS GOOD to have options.
