If we have the same success in this offense that we have had the last couple of years we will have a great shot at getting a high quality QB recruit. We dont need a QB this year. If we did we would have went after a lesser known player, but instead our staff went out and tried to get a select few kids that they thought would be stars in our offense. Next year they need to get a commit as a necessity. This year was for luxery.

I am not trying to be critical here, but where does it say that "tOSU has crept back to the top" in Greg Biggins' recruiting blog? He did say that he believes that Boyd is now back to square one. But nowhere did I read what you quoted about tOSU. Just wondering? Thanks.

I actually feel sorry for Boyd. Did he see how miserable Proyer looked in the bowl game? That offense sucks for a dual threat kid. Anyway, it's still just a hunch.

Sad but trueoreducks77 wrote:This is why I expect the worst and hope for the best, everyone on here has been saying Boyd is ours for weeks now, but I never bought it... If we lose out on him, like I suspect we will, I feel sorry for those that took the colorful, sparkly PowerBait and ran with it. Cuz it's gonna hurt.

Guys the kid hasn't even picked yet, chill out. He hadn't heard from the ducks since his visit. Look after his clemson visit he said, "This visit reaffirms my decision." do you really think he made his decision to go to clemson before even visiting? No and look he isn't going to get many snaps at osu. I mean Last year thomas got snaps and he was in on a play against the rodents. I say we chill out. Don't expect to get him but don't become pessamistic either. we still have bryce brown on the board, an excellent team for next year and four solid recruits. And don't forget Harris, who is the most important recruit in my book. I'd rather have harris then boyd.

I think everybody is on edge right now since we haven't received news of any sorts that sounds good. We've lost Byrd to the draft, Leon is possibly looking at Cal, JC players can't seem to qualify here but can elsewhere, can't get any DTs to commit/qualify and we haven't received any high profile players for over a week now. Now, Boyd is supposedly close to committing to (t)OSU, and you can see why people are believing the worst right now. I don't think it's time to hit the panic button on this class; this class can still pull in a top-25 class without Boyd and Brown. We just need to let things work out and hope the coaches can reel in some of the highly rated players still on the board.

That statement is hardly anything concrete. Biggins could even be wrong to assume that the Buckeyes are in the lead. He's been wrong in the past. Boyd seems like someone who likes to be as polite as possible to everyone and play it real close to the vest. For all we know, Kelly knocked his socks off tonight and is just meeting with the other coaches to be nice since they are already scheduled. We shouldn't jump to quick conclusions until it has played out fully

Who knows where Boyd goes, but this is why you cannot get too up or too down on recruits. From now on, I will no longer believe that a recruit is ours until he signs his letter of intent.

It would be nice if these guys didn't talk to the media and put us fans on these roller coaster rides. We Duck fans are not used to getting these high profile players outside of the West Coast (even then we don't get too many). Unlike USC, Ohio State, Miami, etc. So I would think as a fan of one of those schools when one or two of the top guys pick other schools, you think well, that's OK we have 3-4 other 5* guys and 7-8 4* guys so we are good (although in tOSU's case you think, we still suck and can't beat anybody outside of the Troy's, Ohio's, etc. no matter how much talent we have
) As for us, when we hear them say good things about us and that we are the top of their list and then they choose the Miami's, USC's, Ohio State's we get upset. I am going to start thinking we have not shot at them and then when they choose the Ducks I will be pleasantly surprised.
I can't wait for the day we have so much high profile interest, we can reel in a 3-4 5* guys and 7-8 4* guys!

Jhop....Why the confidence? I mean i would love to see Boyd as a Duck, but the longer this draws out the less likely he becomes a Duck IMO....I just think the distance gets us again....

Guys, sorry I went to bed when you were asking for the link. Thanks to whomever posted it. I am an optimist by nature, and do not like bringing bad news to the table. I read what Greg wrote and thought an update was in order - good or bad, news is news. I wasn't suggesting Greg B was right or wrong, just passing information along.
Now, I really hope Jhop is right, but I also think DT is quite capable of being a serious dual threat with his arm and legs. However, Boyd might be the Pied Pipper (sp?) with a magical flute that leads other recruits to follow him. That is why I want him to join up as much as his having mad skills.
