This would be huge! My wishful thinking has me excited... Is he announcing live on tv, radio or anything like that?

We'll see, I'm still not getting my hopes up. If he does chose Oregon, then you got to believe our odds with Seastrunk just shot up.

My money would be on Auburn.

jhop's revised Reed update is NOT optimistic.

Bummer.

gofightingducks had my hopes up. jhop, why you gotta be so fickle! Ohhh well....here's hoping Reed is just as fickle....
Stewart Mandel-"From a purely aesthetic standpoint, I much prefer to watch a good spread-rushing offense over a traditional Power-I offense, and Oregon's has been the most fun by far for the past several years. It's fast, its precise, and when Chip Kelly has the right quarterback (Dixon, Masoli) at the helm, the possibility of someone ripping off a 60-yard run exists on nearly every play."

Yeah he also says he doubts Seastrunk evens visit us now. WTF? I wonder what happened, why no interest then interest then back to nothing. Was it the Stanford game? For now on I am going to assume we don't get anybody and when we do get someone it will be a pleasant surprise.

Yeah, one thing I have learned about recruiting is that you cannot get too up or too down. I think it's best to see who you get at the end, because recruiting is like a game.

The last 2 years have been big letdowns, particularly last year with a few recruits. I never got too excited about Reed and Seastrunk because we were really never on their radar, but it is still frustrating to hear someone has interest one moment and next thing you hear is they no longer have interest. A rollercoaster ride. Oh well, I am happy so far with this class and I assume we get some other good kids. Next year is already looking like it could be a special class.

Of the three of four schools I've seen he is interested in, only Oregon is currently without a WR commit.

Below are WR commits and I've noted athlete commits as they sometimes become WRs.

LSU - 2 wr commits & mutliple athletes
Auburn - 2 commits & 2 athletes
Tennessee - 4 wr commits & multiple athletes
Oregon - Nobody yet

This obviously doesn't mean Reed will pick Oregon. Hopefully he will.

It is amazing what Oregon has been able to do with the talent that it has. Averaging 42 points (I think) a game over the last 3 seasons. Can you imagine if Oregon were able to get 1-2 4-5* RB's and 1-2 4-5* WR's and a 4-5* QB every year? I can't understand why the top duel threat QB's and top RB's don't want to come here. WR's I can understand but if things continue like they have the last couple of games in the passing game through next season, I don't see why a couple good WR's wouldn't become interested. Now if he could just get a couple of top DT's.

^^^ Exactly. It's weird to me that more guys aren't begging for offers.

In some cases guys don't pick Oregon due in part to negative recruiting from guys like Kiffin with Bryce Brown with the "Oregon won't get you to the NFL" crap. However, that's just one dude. It really is surprising that we haven't landed more big names yet.

I am optimistic though. I think we are just starting to see the fruits of our success on the field. 10 commits and none with fewer than three stars is really good. I can't recall us ever being in that position. I guess there are multiple steps up the staircase. We just need to continue to be successful and we'll get there.

Agreed just continue what we are doing on and off the field and eventually Oregon will little by little begin to land some top recruits. It will take time but a Rose Bowl win and 11 wins this season will go a long way and follow that up with another 10+ win season and top 10 ranking and the top players will take notice. Unfortunately at this time the Ducks don't have the history as the Auburn's, Tennessee's, Clemson's, Notre Dame's etc. or the prestige or success as the Florida's, Oklahoma's, Texas's, UCS's, LSU's etc. But we are on the path to getting there.

A lot of it is also the location. Believe it or not, I bet there are some recruits that couldn't even locate Oregon on a map.
