What Oregon used to run involved almost 100% zone blocking schemes. Cristobal is all about a hat on a hat, man blocking from his O-line. Now, I don't think the pistol is the best use of our offense if we aren't going to run our QB at all but if you have elite linemen, then running man schemes does make sense.

what made Nevada so good in the pistol was Kap could run. He was a threat every snap.
Mario doesnt want to run the qb using the pistol. So he better be a bit more creative lets say.
Arroyo i think this is his time to get it right. He's doing well recruiting qb's to Oregon. But he
i think needs to show on offense that he can gameplan and show some creativity.

With the way the defense is being set up, with a explosive offense we should be a dominant team.
The Auburn game is one of the biggest games in a very long time.

Agreed. We should/need to run the QB 4-5 times a game just to keep defenses honest. You can't allow the ends to crash hard on the snap without hesitating for the RPO.

They have backup QBs. We had nothing last year, so running Herbert was a gamble everytime.

Our QB depth chart isn't exactly filled with pistol guys outside of Herbert. I dont understand why we are sticking to this when it gives no strategic advantages.

The difference between the Oregon offense of 2018 and the Clemson and Ohio State offenses is far, far more different than opting to run the QB on occasion. Completely different designs. Their offenses are comparable to the Helf era offense (Clemson) and Chip era offense (Ohio State).
