I don't get recruiting sometimes...

This kid has 2,144 yards so far on 201 carries and he has 34 rushing touchdowns

Devontae Butler also is 2nd in cali with 34 touchdowns. All the rest players with tons of yards like him are division one bound or underclassmen. What's up with him? If I were Wazzu I'd be all over him.

His team is undefeated, yet he's getting no recruiting love. I'd love to find out why.. Perhaps Grades? Undersized? Maybe his team is just really good and they make him look good? Maybe the competition they play against is weak?

It is funny how that works sometimes. Anybody remember Kenjon Barner coming out of HS? He was a 3* DB & had offers from us, ASU & UTEP. The crazy thing was he had like over 3000 total yards (counting punt & kick returns, INT returns) his SR year & like 30 something TDs. He led the whole state of Cali with those numbers but no one wanted him. Now he's leading the nation in kick return average & is one of our biggest weapons as a freshman :D . Good job coaches.

Doesn't he go to the same school as Ontario Smith was from?

In California isn't Division I the big schools? His team is absolutely crushing what I believe are the other Sacramento public high schools.

10 yards a carry in the big boy division is pretty impressive. Ethan Grant is averaging 10 yards per carry but in one of the lowest divisions in Florida football, mostly playing against small Christian public schools, not the Catholic football factories.

Yep, recruiting is odd for those of us on the outside looking at just bits and pieces of information.

Eh neither does this guy, but that hasn't stopped teams from recruiting him:

Anyway, you are probably right, grades are probably the issue.

You cant judge these kids intelligence by an interview.

Dennis Dixon was absolutely awful in interviews and I believe he was close to 4.0 gpa

Doesn't sound like that is the case..."On top of his football skills, Devontae holds over a 3.0 gpa in the classroom as well..
