I’m feeling a bit skeptical as well. The Sewell brothers have acted erratically. Gabe Jr is still at Nevada but he almost grad transferred to USC or Oregon. Nephi transferred from Nevada to BYU then pulled a Chris Steele to go to Utah.
I think we have two big selling points: Penei, and the fact that we need replacements for both Troy Dye and La’Mar Winston. So if Noah wants to play right away at ILB or OLB this is the way to go. I’m just salivating at a LB corps of Sewell, ISM, Funa, Adrian Jackson, Cunningham, Niu, and company. That’s a death row LB group.

Skeptical is the sound reaction for now. Even if a recruit says, "I'm 100% committed to ______" it's not a sure thing. But the selling points of Penei, playing time, potential LB group and the relationship he seems to have with Cristobal, are positives.
- He's a 5* guy who is taking his time. In the end his relationship with Coach Cristobal and the opportunity to play with his brother will win out. Oh, immediate playing time doesn't hurt either. I think he ends up at Oregon but nothing would surprise me when you're dealing with 17-18 year old kids.
Listening to Nemec on the Ducks Pre-game radio show, and he just said that Sewell won't be making any more visits, and predicted that he would commit to Oregon before Thanksgiving.

He stated Oregon, Washington, and at least 1 SEC school. I said that’s great as long as you come home to Oregon. He said don’t worry, “I got you.” I think that means he’ll commit here. Well to be fair, I didn’t approach him. I’m not a creepy recruit stalker. It was half time. Lines into the restroom have been known to be long. I was about 10 minutes from reaching the urinal when Keith has asked if he could cut in. I said sure as long as he committed to Oregon, and the conversation went on from there. Weird maybe, complete stranger at the start yes, but I saw an opportunity to try to get some intel from the horses mouth rather than pay $100.00/ year. I am aware of the odd dynamic that comes from a conversation of a fan and an uncommitted recruit. I kept the conversation short and didn’t pry too much. Just sharing what I knew.

I will never understand why we always rip on people who are trying to share little bits of info with the board. Obviously, the context changes the story, but why mock the dude when he is relating a personal interaction? Personally, I don't care enough about recruiting to even recognize high schoolers, and to me, the fact that he wanted to cut in line says more about the kid than anything we might glean about his commitment. Still, it's a good story, and I feel like we should encourage people to post stuff like this.

^ X2, I don’t care too much about recruiting until the paper is signed. But no reason to question this members contribution. The big mystery to me is why the kid decided to ask to cut in line 10 minutes back in line instead of five? Lol, kidding.

I couldn't agree more! Skepticism is understandable but keep it to yourself. But maybe that's coming from a personal place for me considering that I started the biggest false rumor in the history of this forum.
