Re: New Commit???
And also having Micheal Clay as the long-snapper gives us another LB on our punt coverage

Re: New Commit???
How can a long snapper win you a football game? Quick, name the last time a botched snap has lost us a game... Go ahead, think back for ten years. I sure as hell can't think of one. And even if you can think of one, who's to say the new guy will NEVER mess up?
If this is just an overreaction to the near-blunder at AZ, then I'm pissed. Palmer's been doing well all year and he's a RS freshman.

Ask Tony Romo and the Dallas Cowboys about their botched attempt in the Seattle playoff game. I don't recall if it was a bad hold or snap, but that cost them the game. I agree that everyone makes mistakes, even the best of players. I am sure over the past 10 years there have been numerous games that have been decided by three points or less in which there was a missed field goal or extra point. These miscues just may not have happened at the end of the game, which always brings more attention to that particular mistake.
I would agree with you that this might be a bad decision if it was made in response to the Arizona game, but I doubt that is how recruiting works. I am sure the coaches had this guy on their radar long before the Arizona game. Most decisions made as a reaction to recent events are big mistakes. I just can't imagine this hadn't been in the works for awhile.

Re: New Commit???
the FG and PAT are done by the short snapper not the long snapper...our long snapper is True Freshman Micheal Clay and he's been great

and yes, the reason he was offered was a classic overreaction by the coaching staff. oh wait...

Re: New Commit???
Someone posted this on DT, which I think is a good point:
"Cut and pasted from dsa sorry- Long snappers in the NFL are a priceless commodity. They are literally worth their weight in gold. No reason that colleges shouldn't treat them the same way. LP Ladouceur hasn't had a bad snap for the Cowboys and Saints in 5 years, and snapped 4 years for Cal without a miss. That's the guy I want snapping when the game is on the line."

If the coaches like him I'm happy he chose Oregon.

...because essentially saying to a new recruit, who might read the board, a wasted scholie is super nice as well. do you not see the hypocrisy? how many folks here have said that giving a long snapper a scholarship is a waste? 3 or 4? and then i (and a few others) pretty much call them out for being jerks and message board coaches (which they kind of are) and you turn around and tell me to be polite? how about telling the people who think this new kid is a wasted scholie to be a bit more polite? call me crazy but that's the people i'd talk to, not me. myself and a few others are trying to be rational here and not calling out the coaches, etc. be honest, the last 2 kids who've committed 99% of us here never knew they walked the face of the planet and within hours, some people are pretty much saying the coaches are stupid....and the first thing you do is tell me to be polite. faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaantastic.UOducksTK1 wrote:Could you be a little less sarcastic all the time and a little bit more polite?hines wrote:again, the message board coaches here are fantastic.Tray Dub wrote:How can a long snapper win you a football game? ...but harper wanted out of oregon fairly soon after he got here. what chris needed to do was to clean up his shoulder and redshirt. hell, he should have moved to wr/rb. he would have been our first tazer position player. chris should have been legadu naanee in college. let you all look him up.RanDux wrote:...and we had an exciting recruit named Chris Harper.maxduck wrote:We can list dozens of recruits that didn't work out, just as we can list dozens that wildly exceeded expectations. Re: New Commit???
I remember seeing Masoli rated as a 5 star on scout also. It wasn't for very long, maybe a month after he had committed to us. After that he went down to a 4 star. He was the highest rated JC QB the year that he committed to us, that I do remember.maxduck wrote:The Scout profiles I find list him either as an unranked one star or a three star. Not sure I have ever seen him rated higher by a recruiting site.fecta23 wrote:Those were only people who were ill-informed. Masoli had 4 to play 3, had offers from Auburn, Arkansas, Zona and us. On top of that he was a five star on scout. He obviously had talent.maxduck wrote:We can list dozens of recruits that didn't work out, just as we can list dozens that wildly exceeded expectations. Re: New Commit???
honestly hines go back to educk... EVERY SINGLE POST U POST IS IRRITATING to read.... is it impossible for u to say something without it being rude/sarcastic or shall i say edgy? and the thing is, everyone realizes it except you... all u can do is criticize other peoples posts... and when they respond u try and spin some irrelevant point to make u seem like the the victor in a pointless online message forum argument that u created... its unbelievable that u cannot contribute in a positive way. the community rarely argues here.. and maybe its just me, but i dont have a problem with anybodys opinion on this board except you.. every time i see your name i know its gonna be something rude/sarcastic/edgy... its annoying man.. not just to me but quite a few other members of this board.

Re: New Commit???
Hines I'm not disagreeing with you on your remark. But the way you say it always seems sarcastic and frankly rude. The reason people come to this board is to get away from all the bickering and rude people infesting all the other forums out there. All I ask is you be a bit more polite when you argue.hines wrote:...because essentially saying to a new recruit, who might read the board, a wasted scholie is super nice as well. do you not see the hypocrisy? how many folks here have said that giving a long snapper a scholarship is a waste? 3 or 4? and then i (and a few others) pretty much call them out for being jerks and message board coaches (which they kind of are) and you turn around and tell me to be polite? how about telling the people who think this new kid is a wasted scholie to be a bit more polite? call me crazy but that's the people i'd talk to, not me. myself and a few others are trying to be rational here and not calling out the coaches, etc. be honest, the last 2 kids who've committed 99% of us here never knew they walked the face of the planet and within hours, some people are pretty much saying the coaches are stupid....and the first thing you do is tell me to be polite. faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaantastic.UOducksTK1 wrote:Could you be a little less sarcastic all the time and a little bit more polite?hines wrote:

Debating and disagreeing is awesome, that's what makes boards thrive. But just do it in a more mannerly way.
thanks
