Oregon MBB on pause again
Oregon MBB can't catch a break as they're once again on pause and their LA road trip is postponed.

I wondered about that when I saw 'protocol-ic' players were on the bench vs OSU...

It’s a good thing if Duarte and Figueroa wouldn’t have been able to play.

WBB MBB
At some point the program is going to have to start playing games. How long are they going to do this? It's been what........8 months now with COVID panic and there seems no end in sight. So how much longer are we going to continue canceling gaming over what amounts to the flu. Another 6 months? 12 months? Two years? At some point recruits will stop signing with Oregon to go play for conferences that will actually let them play. If this program wants to continue succeeding, they will have to stop panicking every two weeks and just play sports. Or....the entire program will cease to be competitive. It's up to Oregon. The entire future of the school is at stake here.

The vaccine will be distributed by the end of the year at worst, so no this won't go on for much longer. Also, no recruit is going to care that the Oregon women didn't trash Utah this week, come on now. If it was going to affect anything it was for this season, not 2022. The Duke women are a historically much better program than Oregon and they quit playing this year entirely. Same with Virginia, Vanderbilt, San Jose State, and others.QuackininBama wrote:At some point the program is going to have to start playing games. How long are they going to do this? There have been hundreds of canceled games this season, ESPN does a great job of showing them in their daily schedule. It's part of the season, that's it, it's not Oregon or anyone else's fault.

And not to turn this into a different thread entirely, but "what amounts to the flu" doesn't kill 500k Americans in a year.

Re: Oregon MBB on pause again
Oregon is not the only program having issues with their basketball programs. Plenty of schools across the country in nearly every conference have had shutdowns due to COVID. Basketball is having more complete pauses than football because there's so few players and coaches on the team that any significant amount of positive tests and/or contact tracing is going to knock enough people out that they fall below the NCAA roster limits for safe competition.

I checked my magic 8 ball and this is its prediction:
Within 3-4 months, the bulk of the population that constitutes 80% of the covid deaths will be vaccinated. Death and hospitalization rates will plummet to the levels of a normal flu of less. Once that happens restrictions will fall left and right.
The rest of the population will have ready access to the 1 shot J & J vaccine and those who want it will be a able to get it easily as a huge percentage of the low vulnerability population will pass on getting a jab.
The vaccinated population will then join the anti-vaxer and "it's just a flu" folks to demand and encourage complete opening so the unvaccinated groups will get infected amongst themselves and herd immunity established as quick as possible..

If you listen to the media, you will be mowing the grass in December.frogsnouts wrote:

The SEC played near a full football season and no one fell over dead from COVID. No players died practicing, referee's managed to not fall over dead supervising the game, trainers, support staff all managed to live through the entire season, in fact, not much of anything changed due to the SEC playing a full schedule. It is what it is.

I'll trust doctors over people on a message board who think they are smarter than doctors.
Hopefully this is cleared up soon and yes, by fall everything should be relatively normal in terms of activity for football and school.
