Pac-12 Awards
Evan Mobley takes home player of the year, defensive player of the year, and freshman of the year while Enfield takes home coach of the year. Duarte got screwed.

Agreed. He did win AP Pac-12 POY though.OregonFan4Life wrote:Evan Mobley takes home player of the year, defensive player of the year, and freshman of the year while Enfield takes home coach of the year. Duarte got screwed.

Just saw your thread, apologies for the duplicate thread. Didn't realize he won AP Pac-12 player of the year til I saw that! Pac-12 coaches hate Oregon in all sports.UOducksTK1 wrote:Agreed. Nah not a duplicate. We can rage in this thread, and celebrate in the other.

Re: Pac-12 Awards
I'm not surprised Mobley won POY. He just had such a high national profile it's undestandable. But Enfield winning Coach of the Year is a total ____ing joke. Altman put together the best coaching job in the league under the most strenuous conditions of his career. He's said it many times. And I don't buy Jon Wilner's rationale about Pac-12 scheduling. Altman did everything he could to put those last games together. He still had to get a team to win 5 games in 11 days with almost no practice time. USC went 3-3 in their last six games. Two games difference schedule doesn't negate a five game winning streak.
My guess is Duarte and the guys have all the motivation they need!

Re: Pac-12 Awards
Based on merit, Altman should have a few more COYs and a case could be made for a few more POY awards by Oregon players.
Stewart Mandel-"From a purely aesthetic standpoint, I much prefer to watch a good spread-rushing offense over a traditional Power-I offense, and Oregon's has been the most fun by far for the past several years. It's fast, its precise, and when Chip Kelly has the right quarterback (Dixon, Masoli) at the helm, the possibility of someone ripping off a 60-yard run exists on nearly every play."

Re: Pac-12 Awards
It sucks, but something that always plays into these kinds of awards is boredom of the same people winning. It's like in the NBA where LeBron could legitimately win it every year or Trout in MLB, but people don't want to go with the boring pick. Altman could legitimately win this award just about every year, but they want to mix it up and pick someone new, so they look for reasons to pick someone else.mattc94 wrote:I'm not surprised Mobley won POY. Re: Pac-12 Awards
Altman and Duarte have earned the hardware of a pac-12 championship. I’m sure that means more to them than awards voted on off the court. Go win the tourney in Vegas and keep focus on that. The rest is just background noise.bigsugarduck wrote:Based on merit, Altman should have a few more COYs and a case could be made for a few more POY awards by Oregon players.
Merit is earned not awarded.

Enfield has at least 2 or 3 players with NBA talent on his roster every year. Its about time that dude won some games.
However, Tinkle deserved it this year with what he did with that roster. Boyle and Altman should have both been in the conversation before Enfield.
And yeah..Duarte got screwed.

Not trying to be rude, but 14-12 should never get you a coach of the year award. Even if you had 4 players on your roster.northbeachsf wrote:Enfield has at least 2 or 3 players with NBA talent on his roster every year. Its about time that dude won some games.

No worries. Fair point...just did a nice job considering the talent level on that team.

Re: Pac-12 Awards
He did do well for what he was given. Unfortunately, going 52-77 in 7 seasons won't give him a last job here. He's gonna have to put together some winning season soon. He's only had a winning Pac-12 record one season here.northbeachsf wrote:UOducksTK1 wrote:Not trying to be rude, but 14-12 should never get you a coach of the year award. Re: Pac-12 Awards
Ha! Well, not going to lie, going from picked 12th to making the Tourney is a DAM fine accomplishment...Props! But being barely over .500 until the last week of the season is not COY material in my opinion.northbeachsf wrote:Can we give it to him now?UOducksTK1 wrote:He did do well for what he was given.
