Easley Now a Soft Verbal

Four-star defensive lineman Dominique Easley is committed to Penn State, but took an official visit with his father to Oregon this past weekend and after coming home, it looks like the Nittany Lions have a fight on their hands.

Just to clarify,

Easly is a soft commit to Penn St. but he has HIGH interest in the Ducks.
Stewart Mandel-"From a purely aesthetic standpoint, I much prefer to watch a good spread-rushing offense over a traditional Power-I offense, and Oregon's has been the most fun by far for the past several years. It's fast, its precise, and when Chip Kelly has the right quarterback (Dixon, Masoli) at the helm, the possibility of someone ripping off a 60-yard run exists on nearly every play."

Interesting, Penn State already has 4 stud defensive lineman committed to them.... Hopefully that works in our favor.

It sure seems like the coaches are going hard after DEs this year. We already have Tony Washington committed and are still going after Owa, King, and now Easley. Plus last year, we signed Hart, Anderson, and Arden as possible DEs (even though Hart has practiced at DT some this year.)

Well we have to replace Kenny Rowe & Zac Clark after next year and Tukuafu this year.

Owa, King, and Easily are physically more developed to contribute than any player on our current roster.

Arden is currently listed at 215lbs
Anderson is currently listed as a DT at 226lbs...?
Hart is 6-6 260 So I wouldn't be surprised if they move him inside if he continues to fill out

This is fantastic!

I'm not worried about our DT situation, simply because I know something like this will pull through.

The Ducks will already be a contender for the BCS championship game heading into next season. We're one monster DT away from completely crushing anyone in our paths.

We've got the best fans in the nation and the loudest stadium. We produced one of the NFL's best defensive linemen in Ngata. We feature a resurgent defense and great coaches. There's no reason to believe we won't be the favorite for the Pac-10 title, and another Rose Bowl, come next season.

And... any stud DT who comes here may get to play right away!

It's too good of a situation for someone out there to pass up.

Word is Easley might play DT for us if he decides to be a duck.

With all of these big bodied athletic DE's interested, you gotta think that at least one or two of them could play DT for us since we seem to like smaller but more athletic DT's.

I do think that the ducks will be the pac-10 fav next year even with the unfavorable schedule that year. However I think we will need a stud DT to step in from the players we already have. Rarely (if fact I cant think of one right off the top of my head) do DT's come in and become studs in their first and even second years. Usually the good d-linemen are always upper classmen. We will still be a great team but the d-line will still be an area of worry for me.

You know, the more I think about it the less worried I am about next year's schedule. USC and Oregon St. will be really tough on the road. But we have Arizona and Stanford, both at home, both of who will be very tough. And if Best is gone, can't say I'm too worried about Cal.

Isn't this how Scout treats all verbal commitments where the player is still visiting other schools? I remember Ethan Grant became a "soft verbal" when he decided to take a few of his visits.

Onevisit makes you a 'softy' on Scout, but the fact he now has Oregon listed as 'HIGH' is more important, for now.
